I Made Portal 3 Because Valve Wouldn't... Since Valve doesn’t seem to be making a new Portal game anytime soon, I decided to make Portal 3 myself using Unity. But honestly, who knows what might happen with Valve. They recently just put out an update for Left 4 Dead 2 after having nothing for like 8 years, so anything is possible at this point. Portal 3 may be right around the corner, but until then all we can do is make it ourselves.

  • I swear to god the community for all valve games is literally like “fine I’ll do it myself”

"So i grabed some Portal 2 textures from Roblox"
  • @ToastyV0
The paint gun is the gun used in “Aperture Tag” /aka/ a Portal 2 mod made by the community and Valve bought it to put it on steam.

Why am I only seeing this now, YouTube?! Really nice work, and I'm happy the portals were a help :)

1:47 I mean... why not? Portal 2 ended with Chell getting outside of the facility along with her companion cube. I mean it would be a totally different experience if Portal 3 would be about getting back to civilisation through a gigantic forest filled with demolished bits of the Aperture Science test chambers.
  • At 1:30 the issue of different camera angles based on where the portal was placed could honetsly be fleshed out as its own type of portal game. For example imagine if gravity shifted with the change in camera angle, then not only would you have portal based puzzles but gravity changing ones as well.

Honestly what I think would be an interesting plot would be for Chell to voluntarily return to the facility out of boredom and/or lack of resources at the surface. The first few "levels" would be simply navigating the facility with the aid of the companion cube given to her upon her exit of the facility. At some point Chell locates GLaDOS's lair, and then something happens. EDIT: this has to be the worst writing I've ever done. I'm a writer now and I lead an entire modding studio, and my writing has greatly, GREATLY improved since I posted this.

I swear, almost every game community have this moment where the dev's update took too long(or rather never released) that the members made one themself..
  • @plutototoh
This is such a cool experiment! Nicely done, this feels like the kind of creativity that must have gone into the mainline Portal games
  • @leonardoraele
Next step in this project is to create a level editor and start the perpetual testing initiative.

Sebastian Lague had his portal video recommended to me, which started a chain of recommendations after I watched the whole thing. After playing Portal 2 it's cool to see it all go full circle.

7:50 as almost all of the concepts of the gels were based on the game "Tag: the Power of Paint", I assume the paint gun was meant to function similar to the the main gun of that game, which just allowed you to spray each type of paint/gel at will.
