Welcome to the Letterman YouTube Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate — but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

  • Carl Wilson is a person you never stop missing. Thanks for posting this, Team Dave.
  • @doublelxp
Carl sang the hell out of Wouldn't it Be Nice here. Great voice in general.

Normally, I go straight to making fun of Mike Love’s cap and bald spot. But holy cow, Al and Matt Jardine’s hair is…something. RIP Carl. He was the best.

Oh Carl. What a voice -- forever the sound of summer for me. Thanks for this fun reminder.

I sure hope someone took the Beach Boys to a local bar after the show to 'get a round.' And, I'll show myself out.

Dave's is the luckiest guy in the history of TV. Who else could get this kind of cooperation from stellar groups like the Beach Boys? And so well choreographed. Even these guys don't just walk in and do this. Quite the rehearsal for this bit. Great!!

You have to admit, that was one hell of a first year.
  • @assmane999
Proves that when you have amazing singers, they could sing a phone book and you’d listen to the whole album
  • Because I'm lying in bed and watching this... Just like Brian Wilson did...

Happy to say, I can still remember part of that. 22 years old, university student, near the end of my summer job. School in a town I lived in, so the basement of my parents house. They had a nice TV down there, and cable.

Gives me a shiver. Loved their harmonies since Endless Summer came out when I was 11(?).
  • Worked there at the time. Letterman wanted the studio real cold, didn't like heat lights created. Crew would were jackets during taping
  • @wa6roy
The guy with the white baseball cap is Bruce Johnston who wrote Barry Manilow's hit I write the songs
