Lott was a Clean player. His hits were legal. He did not spear like many others that came after. He was a shoulder first player. Best that ever was at Safety.

John Lynch had the best explaination....he tackled people like he was trying to tackle someone right behind them.

Wow these manning shows are incredible he's interviewing legends back to back to back to back
  • @dredhead117
lol Peyton at the beginning: "my sign said 'I will not be hit this season' I don't think the offensive line got that" šŸ˜†šŸ˜‚
  • @whitebuffulo
"Has pinky swearing become and issue?" Peyton quick wit gold, imagine being at the dinner table with the Mannings, what a gift experience that would be :)

Fun fact: That goal line stand was done with 10 Niners on the field. Coaching in an all-star game I was lucky enough to meet Lott. He has the presence of a 5 star general. He passed his rings around the players and he told them "If you are thinking of taking one, remember that I have one good hit left in me!" The kids loved him. Hell, we all did.
  • Ronnie is one tough SOB! He's one of the greatest to do it without a doubt. Dude was a missile

Absolute legend. Every faithful knows Ronnieā€™s contribution. He is long from forgotten.
  • I love these conversationsĀ with Peyton Manning and whoever.Ā He's sharp,Ā quick-witted, respectful,Ā and good atĀ creating aĀ peer vibe while holding up the other personĀ as the star of the conversation. This should be any interviewer's job, but it's a rare skillĀ and Manning is really good at it.

Ronnie Lott, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Bill Walsh, 49er recipe for greatness
  • I love watching two different eras of football talking about the sport they love. The new generation needs this.
  • As a Giants' fan, one who's personally seen some great defenses throughout the years, you've got to appreciate Ronnie Lott as one of the all-time greats.

Cool video. Defense in the 1980s was lights out! San Fran with Lott, the Giants with LT, the Redskins with Manley and of course the 85 Bears! WOW what a decade šŸ’ŖšŸˆšŸ”„
  • Nice to see Lott and the 49er Defense get more credit. Walsh owes a huge part of his success to Seifert, the most underrated coach ever. In 81 he was the DB coach that had four rookies, and three went to the Pro Bowl. Lott was a CB, not a safety then. Then as the video says, the 49er Defense had an amazing run in big games, with Seifert as DC or HC. As head coach, BTW, the 49ers has the two of the greatest offense showings ever, with two different QBs and Seifert as the HC, not Walsh.

Ronnie Lott is the Godfather of Safety's

As a Giants fan since 1971, I got to witness much of the punishment Lott dished out. He definitely was a force to be reckoned with.
  • That 1984 49ers defense definitely doesnt get enough credit. They played three playoff games that year and didn't give up a single point in the 2nd half in any of them. In fact they gave up only one offensive touchdown the entire playoffs, which is the same amount the 1985 Bears did. Amazing performance that's sadly overlooked.

This is the greatest era of football. Smash mouth that is. Now I was a HUGE fan of the 90s game though. Farve and Montana Young, Cunningham, then put in Vick! Comon! Glory years of the gridiron! Manning, I could go on and on and on, omg Chuck the middle missile Cicel, it was like candy! Now? The game blows. Oh and I love Ronnie Lott and Iā€™m a GreenBay Fan.

People like to say Prime was the best DB to ever do it, but I always say itā€™s this man. He was the reason the dynasty started not Montana or Rice. The man made the pro bowl at every DB position. Beast!!
