  • Let's see... Knitting and crocheting over 50 years... Married nearly 37 years, in the same house... Definitely Maximalist! Totes in the basement and under beds in all three bedrooms. Boxes in three closets. Bags and bins waiting to be inventoried into my Ravelry stash. I love the stash feature on Ravelry, because I can sort by color, weight, yardage, fiber. So even though I have over 25 places to look, I can find a particular yarn very quickly!
  • As a minimalist that lives in a very small space i need to keep things very organized. I recently donated an entire bag of yarn. When i was new to crochet i would buy yarn just because i thought it was pretty, regardless of quality. I tend to try and use as much as i can before buying. For example, i'm currently making some little fish keychains for a friend who's daughter's birthday party is an ocean theme and i have a glut of pink so pink fish it is! I tend to buy less but higher quality yarns which, for me, bring me more joy 🙂

I just wanted to take a moment to express how much I am enjoying your videos on amigurumi-making! Your clear instructions and helpful tips have inspired me to try my hand at making these adorable creatures myself. I appreciate the time and effort you put into each of your videos, and it's evident that you have a true passion for this craft. Watching your videos and reading your blog posts has been such a valuable learning experience for me, and I feel like I'm improving with each project I tackle. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and creativity with the world, and for inspiring me to pursue my own amigurumi-making journey.

I’m pretty much a planner, and although I don’t need a organization system, I decided to watch this anyways 😂 And I organize my yarn by weight and color coordination. But when it comes to planning for future projects, I like to write down a list of projects I love to make over and over (since I sell my finished pieces) and the amount of yarn it needs, and I keep that list where I can see it all the time or in a place I 100% know where it is. And when I go out and buy yarn, I like to look at different types of yarn and let my imagination soar and I like to think of other projects I could make— but I have one rule while yarn shopping. Don’t buy any yarn you didn’t write down on your list! Unless you absolutely positively know you’re going to use it 🤣 Happy crocheting and knitting, y’all! 🧶❤️
  • I am a planner who could possibly pass for a hoarder. 😊 I bought lots of yarn from sheer excitement to start new projects and then filled my time with gift projects to do now. That was most of last year (all gifts). Now I’m fitting in making some things for myself. There are always gifts to be made! The hoarding part is from stocking up on Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton Yarn colors that are now discontinued (the most vibrant ones!). No regrets as they make me happy every time I see them and I will happily use them all. I store mostly in tote bins to keep them safe from bugs and dust. The cottons go in a blanket bag for lack of display space. I want a better system to see them but for now it works, and no more bags of yarn strewn around the floor of the living room! It’s fun to read how people keep their yarn, and thank you for the eye candy!

I'm a planner, but I do purchase yarns on a whim at times. When I find a pattern that I know I want to make in the near future, I will purchase the yarn and anything else I might need (zippers, buttons, embellishments), print off the pattern and store it all together in a clear plastic bin. I also have a file on my computer where I keep track of all the patterns I plan on making, along with the yarn type and color I would like to use, and any notes. I make sure to have the picture of the completed project as well - to jog the memory! Might seem over the top but it works for me. It also gives me a record of what I have made, how it turned out, and a photo of the completed project. I also note if it was a gift. If it was, I add who I gave it to so that I don't repeat a gift!!
  • @acolley2891
I WAS the planner, until my neighbor so generously brought me three trash sacks of yarn! She was gifted a ton of it, took what she liked, then shared it. I couldn't turn down all that beautiful yarn now could I? 😂 I sort by project, then by fiber for the rest. I think you are so pretty and kind. May the love of Jesus Christ be with you.
  • @Samantha_Butler
I am almost 12, I've been crocheting since spring-summer 2023 and I want as much yarn as you 😂 that would be my dream ❤
  • Thanks, Elise! You inspired me and yesterday I reorganized all my yarns. I guess I am a minimalist because all my stash fit in one shelf unit, I organized it by weight and it looks so beautiful I can't stop staring at it LOL!!
  • @Mamallina437
I’m definitely eclectic! I am actually a counted cross stitcher and have tons of those supplies. My husband made new shelves for me and I got it all in order(though I know there is more in my “hoarder” garage. I usually only crochet baby blankets for friends…until I had a grandbaby 2 years ago. And another one a month ago! In researching patterns for blankets for them I fell back in love with crochet and my craft room is filling up! A skein of yarn takes up a lot more rom than a hank of floss! 🪡🧶
  • @EvieBear236
Your craft room looks great! The organized yarn stash adds so much to the atmosphere of the room. I have mostly wool yarn so I put them in plastic baggies to keep any kind of critters from messing with them. The acrylic yarns go in a see-through tote to keep the cats out of them, LOL.
  • @sidepai
I'm a planner/minimalist myself. I tend to buy what I need for each project. If I have any leftovers, I toss them into my ball bag (its an amazon gift bag haha). Once my ball bag is full of balls, I will pull them out, plan, and make an item out of them based on how much I have and what colors work well together 😂
  • I am an eclectic! I make a lot of amigurumi so a lot of the weights and fibers are similar. I also have yarn stored in the master bedroom, both spare bedrooms & a little in the living room. I am working with my fiance on what kind of storage apparatus he likes, aesthetically, so I can order it & get to work! Can't wait to have it all in one place. I did find an under the bed shoe organizer which works wonderfully if someone is low on space! Got mine for around $5 at Bargain Hunt.
  • @DebraR35789
I like to organize by weight then sub organize by color/brand. I’m a maximalist! I have 2 rooms with all 8 walls filled with yarn. My husband tells me every day that I have a sickness. Lol. I just love yarn and making wonderful projects. Buying yarn without a project in mind is a classic move for me. And I usually buy enough to make a large project.
  • My soul wants to be a Maximalist, but practicality has made me a planner. I live in a tiny remote town in the Canadian Arctic where I have zero opportunity to shop in person for yarn. Since I need to actually FEEL a yarn, I end up planning my projects, and then when I get south to civilization, I go to town filling my wish list. Ina few years, we will be retiring and are planning on full-time RV’ing until it’s no offer feasible. Once again, I will HAVE to be a planner completely because of space constraints. I know it’s not the end of the world by any stretch, but I SO envy your crazy room! It’s something I have always wanted to have, but northern homes are built with almost monastic practicality. 🤣
  • @mrsclaunch
I am for sure a collector with my yarn organized by color. Thanks for the video. Definitely helps to learn more about myself. ❤
  • @alicial6072
I'm a planner/eclectic, I go to the store with a project and buy several different yarns/colors with the idea of doing more than one of the same project. I stopped crocheting for the last 6 years and one day I decided to organized my craft bins in the attic, so when I put all the yarns together I had 4 bins. First thing I did was decided to pick my needle back up again and to use up all the yarn before I purchased more but I didn't stick with the plan. I wanted to make a white shawl so I had to buy more yarn, I wanted a wool blend blanket so I bought more yarn. I really have no organization only bins, I put baby yarn in one bin, hat/scarf yarn in another, yarns for blankets in another, i pulled aside all my scrap/yarn that i wasn't going to use for a project and made baskets, cotton I made dish cloths, so I am using the yarn up just adding a few to it.
  • Im definitely a collector. I collect and every few years cull my stash by giving bags away. I want to become more of a planner. Your channel on wpi is my next watch. I learn so much from you. And you have a wonderful demeanor and a beautiful face too!
  • @UniquelyChibi
Definitely a planner and eclectic. I get the yarn for a specific project, but because I have multiple WIPs they get put away to be later rediscovered. Right now, rediscovering yarn I got before marriage that has to be used up to be donated away because my husband has specific allergies and sensitivities to certain fibers who runs the risk of coming across them. Right now all rediscovered yarn he can't touch is in the "No Touchies Yarns" storage container.
  • @demiwolters4375
I’m a minimalist 😁 I organize by fiber! Acrylic, cotton, wool, specialty yarns and sock yarn. I only buy yarn for my next projects and have a max amount of WIPs. Whenever I finish a few projects I make a scrapyarn project to use up the leftovers. Works great for me!
