Pretending they don't know what the cause of the odor is must be hard.

Vancouver is now one giant ass.
  • @mikzin630
Aren't you journalists supposed to investigate the cause, not simply pose the question and walk away..?
  • People are defecating in the streets and parks due to lack of housing and facilities. During a heat wave that is absolutely what it smells like. Ive traveled and seen the same thing down in poor areas in other countries as well

Skytrain smells like poop and pee most of the time, and stations in downtown area smells like poop and pee too. Saw pee in the elevators all the time during the winter.

A lot of Vancouver smells like a toilet. I think they should probably stop the homeless from using our streets as their personal bathroom.
  • Quality of life / standard of living in Canada has rapidly declined.

In response to increased complaints of foul odors at SkyTrain stations in the Metro Vancouver area, a formal air quality study was conducted under the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) by the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change of Canada. This study took place in May 2024 and involved air sampling across three major routes: Waterfront Station to King George Station, Waterfront Station to Braid Station, and Waterfront Station to Production Way–University Station. Air probes were systematically collected and analyzed to determine the levels of various compounds. The focus was detecting fat-soluble oils and inorganic salts, specifically sodium, chloride, and potassium, indicating human perspiration. The study revealed significantly elevated levels of these compounds along the Waterfront Station to King George Station route. The concentrations of fat-soluble oils and the specified salts were 374% higher on this route than on the other routes tested.

Yeah, it's called people not taking showers and not using deodorants.

I went to Metrotown last week, it was a true assault to the senses. I couldn’t even use a change room; the odour was so bad they had to call in back up to get ride of it. The entire place smelled like a giant armpit.

Christ. It doesn't take a genius to know the cause. It's the homeless

My mother in law came to visit us in Vancouver (I live in the lower mainland). When I took her downtown by foot, after crossing the bridge on Granville side, we immediately got hit by the smell of piss, and I felt a bit ashamed that she had to see how the streets were filled with drug addicts acting anything but normal.

Sewage pipes leaking. Number 20 bus South bound goes through Hastings, picks up people that need to sleep and some who need a place to sit while their drugs work. Boarded the bus a few times to find people sleeping, leaving biohazards on the seats and some on the verge of overdosing. Not complaining just sharing what I have observed. Translink needs to change the bus route!!
