  • I'm so glad Mark mentioned Life of Brian because when Javier Bardem's character insists that Paul Atreides' repeated denials of being the Messiah have themselves been foretold by the prophecies, I had to stifle myself from saying aloud in the theater "Only the true Messiah denies his divinity!"
  • Jessica: ‘He’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy. Now, piss off’!!😂😂😂
  • Florence Pugh is "underused" the same way Zendaya was in part 1. She'll get a bigger role in part 3, her part was just the introduction to her character.

I really did not mind Walken. Yeah he has his unique voice but I think they pulled it back quite a bit for this. I bought him as a tired old king.

Showing some love for Javier Bardem's performance ❤

In a recent interview, Walken stated that he had read the book when he was young, emphasizing that he had grown up with it, and also watched the original film.
  • I love that dune is a story where the "Good guy" winning is the absolute worst thing that could happen

He's not the Kiwizatch Haderach, he's a very naughty boy!

Walken did one interview for this film as far as I can tell, and in it he said he was stumped as to how he could play an Emperor, but after talking to Denis he came to the conclusion that he didn’t have to play an emperor. The way people treated him is what would make him an emperor.

You might think that Christopher Walken was 'parachuted in' because he took part in 'Weapon of Choice' and one of the lines of the song was "Walk without rhythm and you won't attract the worm!"

I have to say I disagree about the Christopher Walken casting. Sure he still talks in his unique way, but it was paired back and I thought he brought some very fitting elements to the character. There's a kind of creepiness and menace to him, but also eccentricity and intelligence amidst his aging frailty. Pugh was amazing as well, I really enjoyed every scene they were in.

Best poster quote ever: "The Worms are Breathtaking".

Christopher Walken was perfect for that final scene. (Little spoiler:) A younger actor as Emperor would not have created the same impact then, when contrasted with the person opposite him.
  • The "bagpipe" sound you refer to that Zimmer emulates is accomplished with a device called an Ebow, played with the strumming hand on a guitar, which you correctly identify Stuart Adamson using in his band Big Country.

The Emperor absolutely should have been played by Kyle McLachlan

Did Javier Bardem look like Oliver Reed in those opening shots of him or was I just imagining it?
  • @Marenqo
Scenes in this movie reminded me of Riefenstahls Olympiade but also Trimpfh of the Will
  • "The worms are breathtaking" Just think that phrase needs its time in the spotlight.
