It's already been two years, and yet it feels like Smile as an album, and its title track, came out yesterday. I remember watching it for the first time when it was released, and really enjoying it. The beat is happy, infectious, and catchy, really manages to bring a smile to the viewer's face. Speaking of enjoyment and appreciation, I find the entire concept of the album uplifting and inspiring, as well as just the right amount of silly, but this is Katy we're talking about, so that's always a given. Remember Last Friday Night's music video? Exactly. In other words, a title track to make any listener smile, laugh, dance and marvel at how time has passed, things have changed, and yet, deep down, Katy's always Katy. Straightforward, honest, smart and driven, but nonetheless always ready to vent out her feelings and emotions through her music. An experiment, she called it in an interview, a way to let loose, unwind and find her smile again. I'd say, after watching this video once again, mission accomplished.
