Arctic rowboat almost hits Iceberg #1

Published 2012-08-29
This is the first iceberg we encountered -- dead smack on our waypoint. The surface winds and waves pushed us too close for comfort. As you can see our rowboat was not the most maneuverable vessel on the water.

Arctic Row started as an epic first crossing of the Arctic Ocean. It became a survival story for the ages. Each day brought a new challenge -- often life threatening. I look forward to making a film and book (called INTO THIN ICE) delving into the expedition & the important issues surrounding the Arctic region. Thank you Eddie Bauer, ViSalus, Body Glide, Dermatone, Cordura, Roger Trinchero, and ALL for bringing us back safe and successful. -- Collin West, Paul Ridley, Neal Mueller, and Scott Mortensen.
