Mark Spitz was my inspiration for swimming since I was a kid in the 70's. I think he is the GOAT, just imagine if he would have continued swimming for another couple of Olympic games.

The 4x100 (freestyle) relay medal ceremony was different than the relay race that was shown. Shown receiving medals are Mark Spitz, Jerry Heidenreich, John Murphy and David Edgar. The (medley) relay race swimmers were Mark Spitz, Jerry Heidenreich, Tom Bruce and Mike Stamm.

Interesting to watch how swimming techniques have evolved. I can only imagine what the future of swimming will look like. Maybe no breathing. Many swimmer don’t even take a breath when doing a 50m. Lol
  • No había tenido oportunidad de ver finales de esos años, me encantó. Y el cierre, para mi gusto, definió el primer lugar.

It looks like the medal ceremony is for the 4X100m freestyle relay and not the 4X100 medley relay.

Imagine the consternation if the USA anchor guy false started or got a cramp or something.

From a 2024 perspective, their Breststroke technique is beyond appaling! 😃
