Description and timestamps below: The magnum opus of Sonic Team on the Sega Mega Drive and in my opinion, the greatest classic Sonic game ever made: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles. The project for Sonic 3 was so huge that it had to be split into two games: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. Sega went one step beyond and engineered the cartridges to be locked onto one another, to form one giant game so players can play the complete version of Sonic 3, as initally intended, which is named Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles.

At the end of Sonic 2, Sonic defeats Dr. Robotnik and critically damages his space station, the Death Egg. Plummeting from orbit, it crashes onto Angel Island, a landmass that is somehow floating high in the sky. The impact brings Angel Island down into the sea, where Sonic and Tails investigate the landing. Robotnik learns that the source of energy, gifting the Angel Island's flight is the Master Emerald. With it, he will be able to reenergize the Death Egg and have ultimate power. After he meets Knuckles, the lone guardian of the Master Emerald, he tricks him into believing Sonic is after the Master Emerald for himself, and sets up the two heroes against one another......While they are dealing with each other, who is going to stop Robotnik?
