That guy should go to jail and be charged with a felony for tampering.
  • I was taught as a young driver , to engage trailer brakes first then pull forward just a little, so there is tension on that kingpin, therefore it can't be pulled out. My stepfather was a good teacher, Thanks Dad.

No matter how enraged I may ever get... I know screwing around with a car or truck is cowardly.

For those wondering if the scumbag got caught. John Highley That WAS my dash cam. I was asleep and the crash woke me up. I helped the driver pick his trailer up. We reviewed my cam footage. The guy was identified and caught. Nice one John. Kudos to you. John's channel: youtube.com/channel/UCyQfG1DhUfq5OKLv12VGc6w

I had a class A for a short period. I'm totally shocked to see someone do this. The title says "scumbag", but that is putting it mildly. Trucks are federally regulated, and there should be a federal (felony) crime for this.

i’m retired now but during my entire trucking career I NEVER got in my truck without taking a peek at the 5th wheel pin, NEVER! That said, I hope the guy who pulled it was caught and got what was coming to him.
  • @mikemc41
When parking set the trailer brake THEN pull against the pin. Now set the tractor brake, step out and lock the doors. No one will be able to pull the pin now......

It's very simple! If it's not yours, Don't F**** Touch it!
  • @billrussell7672
if I caught a driver doing that, id beat him near death, Im a mechanic and I have my CDL . no one who does that should drive ever again ,; or walk
  • @billdyches8549
Simple lock for the kingpin. When you park set the trailer brakes. Pull a little on it with the tractor before setting the tractors brakes. No way in hell can that pin be pulled with the tension on it.

I trucked for 39 years and I’ve been retired for two years now. Trucking was good to me and I think I got out at the right time. It’s a whole new breed of flip flops out there....
  • @moneyshot7785
When I 1st got my cdl that was the 1st piece of advice another driver gave me. Always check the kingpin everytime you come back to the vehicle

I'm not a trucker, but I appreciate those of you who are thank you for bringing our stuff to us. We would not have the things we have without y'all. Thanks Again! What this guy did is unreal and the lives he could have potentially put at risk. Now the driver of that truck is stuck with a repair bill.
  • wow I need to start checking my rig before leaving out truck stops. you never know who you might have offended on that road. Just let's you know how low people have gotten these days.
  • @stevantammy6779
That crap started in the early 70's after deregulation in the trucking industry. We were always taught to park then put a strain (pull against) the fifth wheel.
  • @elibenjamen8729
If i ever see this happen infront of me, im immediately putting my hands on you. You and i are fighting regardless you want to or not
  • @paulgrimm7842
I drove doubles for UPS. When I left the rig and returned ,I always checked both fifth wheels and dolly snubber latch . Their are low life’s out there
  • @tips42086
Ive had trailers stick on me.. Could imagine making a few miles before it comes off and wipes out a family or something.. Should be heavily charged..
  • First got a commercial license in 1976 and still have it. One of the first things I was taught was to park, pull the trailer brake, then pull forward before setting the tractor brake so nobody could pull your kingpin handle.
  • @robertboyer5498
That's a real POS. That's why I always check when I get back to the truck.
