Jake Thomas is the writer of Creator Hooks. Creator Hooks is a newsletter dedicated to helping you write better YouTube titles by studying human psychology.

I read this newsletter every week, and what I love about Jake’s approach is that he’s very data-driven.

In this episode, you’ll learn how to research your own titles, how you can leverage human psychology to get views, some successful frameworks for titles, and why curiosity is the most impactful emotion to tap into.

Wow did the production and music backdrop just go up another notch in quality?! 🔥🔥
  • @WAYOFLIFESQ
I love how underrated this video is—more game for me!!!
  • @KRXOVRmedia
I REALLY appreciate that segment about finding balance between doing "what works" and what feels "morally" right or characteristic. Definitely a challenge, but I appreciate hearing from someone like Jake who I already follow that he also negotiates that balance.

14:00 use word actually 16:30 call out beginners 17:00 talk about regrets “i regret… like this”-> share experience revealing a secret
  • This is an insanely helpful video - thank you both! Having subscribed to Jake's newsletter, I've learnt so much in a short time. You are an incredible interviewer and I appreciate your honest human approach, for example, just having questions about trying to tap into the fear element of human nature even though it works. I understand that struggle. And also love that you give all your team credit at the end, this is not something I really see on YouTube. Awesome job, thank you for what you're creating! 👏

Erm.. how has this channel not blown up yet?! Great content. New sub 👍
  • @GreatBooksProf
Hey Jay, Really enjoying your content. I appreciate hearing YouTube experts going into detail about how they do what they do. Thanks!
  • It is so unfortunate that peoples attention span is short... This video is gold! (it deserves millions of views) Thank you for making and sharing this gold of the content. I literally changed one of my video titles immediately and thumbnail as well... And all that is said is really 100.000% true, one of my videos blew up because of incorporating this strategy and I made this channel not a full month ago. Thank you again! Let's grow! <3

I've been subscribed to Jake's newsletter for a few months and this conversation is a great compliment to that. Great interview! Thank you!
  • Hey Jay. I've been bingeing your content, podcast and videos. In one of your podcasts you said that if you get signals that people are binging your content then you've won. Just wanted to give you some of that confirmation. Thanks a ton. Keep up the good work. Just subscribed to the newsletter too.

You know 54 minutes in earth time, is like 6,000 years in American time. But I am free for the next 6,000 years, so let's go.
  • @GTARecreation
You can't really just count on views if your title is good. The subject and the quality of the video are also important. You can write the best title if the idea is not popular

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my YouTube channel 5 months ago about self development. Now I have 336 subs and almost > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.
  • @ThePrinceAJShow
Adding beginner to some of my future titles sounds like a great idea! Thank you, Jay! 🙂
  • @prospectpat
I knew I’ve seen your content before. New sub! Cheers. Thanks for guiding creators.
  • @johnklus
This was a really great video! Going to try to implement them. The end about sharing stories is something that can really help people. Everybody has a unique story to tell on a certain subjects but sometimes we feel imposture syndrome, but your story can help someone else.
  • Hi Jay, such a valuable video to watch, thanks for sharing! I struggle at the best of times with catchy titles and I really liked the frameworks with examples that Jake provided.
  • @denorosu
Jake knows his stuff, man! And he comes across as such a genuinely cool dude. I’m constantly recommending his newsletter to people.
