#Cowboys WR Ryan Flournoy Big, Fast, Strong & Physical | Quick Film Session

Published 2024-04-28
“He’s a big receiver that we really like. Big, fast, strong and physical. Really stood out and fit in at the Combine and at the Senior Bowl to show that he belonged with the NFL-type players. We think that there is a great upside there.” -VP of player personnel Will McClay

Summary
Flournoy possesses qualities of a professional-level player but also has areas needing improvement. While he effectively uses his size and skills in off-man coverage, he struggles against press coverage due to slow release and over-reliance on physicality rather than precise route-running. His route discipline needs refinement, and his lack of agility may hinder him against tight man coverage. Despite these weaknesses, Flournoy showed promise at the Senior Bowl, making him a potential Day 3 draft pick with roster potential.

Strengths

Has the size and physique suited for NFL play.
Demonstrates commitment to pushing vertically during routes.
Capable of adjusting positioning to secure catches in traffic.
Displays quick, reliable hands and navigates congestion well.
Shows agility and toughness after the catch.
Highly coachable and team-oriented, earning praise from his coach.

Weaknesses

Inconsistent in evading physical press coverage.
Routes lack focus at times.
Footwork can be awkward during intermediate route breaks.
Struggles with knee bend and agility, impacting his ability to consistently create separation.

My gut feeling is saying this dude will someday be an NFL pro bowler!
  • His 1.52 10 yard split was one of the fastest at combine same as Rome Oduze
  • I hope he works out. Thanks law for that information. Let's go Cowboys
  • @ItalianCowboy111
He should be a really good special team guy, to start his career….at least. He got swag in my 👁️
  • Thanks Law you made me feel better about this draft class after I watched your information and input on them 👍🏾💪🏿💯

We could have had rice jr.. even if he's only 10% the WR his dad was, he'd automatically be our #2 WR.
  • @mattbatten
I like the pick great pick give him a shot im happy hes a dallas cowboys now your the best law nation
  • This is another reason I’m happy Cooks is still with us.. If his route running is his biggest knock that’s more than fixable.. He’s working with CC already then be able to learn from Cooks & Cee Dee too.. he will be a great weapon for this team!
  • @Theories4freedom
I like the best quality that the Cowboys lack is speed to put fear in the opposing defense he also fit that mold who is one of those under the radar prospects is DeCorian Clark from UTSA who has some injuries concerns but probably a better route runner but the hands and speed is about the same.
