How We Are MATING 1,000 QUEENS! Beekeeping 101 / #beekeeping

One thing I've learned is that the bigger the hive, the longer it takes for the queen to come back mated. So...we use these mini mating nucs. Less hive that the queen needs to walk and map out before she goes out and gestated at a drone congregation area. Nucleus colonies are a great tool for queen breeding. So I hope this little hack can help you :)

  • It's called destructive testing. Where you destroy something to test it.
  • I want to try a few of those mini mating nucs. Nice to see Casey in the video! He definitely knows his bees.

I’m a queen breeder in Northern California. Where are you located? Been very busy and I don’t have a You Tube channel. Good luck 🍀 I don’t mind sharing ideas, but I got rid of those plastic inner covers and now use a light canvas so when feeding or adding cells you just peel back that area you need to expose plus stops them from building wax on the covers. Have fun

Your partner gets a new nickname: “Hive Ninja”. Dude flows through the yard with a purpose and efficiency that’s a bit scary. You get the sense watching him he could do it all day.

So jealous of that dudes back. Mine was hurting just watching all the up and down.

My dad used to take every sting that came along and he got hundreds until one day he felt strange after a sting. A few minutes later he dropped to the ground with anaphylactic shock. He barely survived and literally was declared dead by the hospital staff for a period of time. The exact same thing happened to my neighbor and then a year later to his son. Anaphylaxis can happen and it can end a beekeeping career.
  • I’m the same way I never wear gloves! I’ve tried 😂

The gentleman in this video would definately receive lesd stings if he was using a smoker to desensitize the honeybees before disturbing them. Also on another note of your baaby nucs, not necessary to move to another location after cell stocking. Open the doors the following day and they will have already accepted their new home.. best wishes Emily 🐝👍💜

Came to learn about King Solomon 🙂
  • Am I the only one that feel an intense shock/ pain when he squashes the bees?!
  • What I understand is you can get stung countless times, but then out of blue! You better have an epi-pen! So you're actually putting your life at risk. Understand! It's not as bad as fireant stings. Those the acid accumulates in your body until it becomes a medical emergency

What are you doing with all the tires piled up?
