This song is dedicated to all who have gone through depression, sorrow, heart break, trials and tribulations that have led to clouded minds and a mental space of darkness.

This bilingual song acknowledges these hardships and empathises with unity! It's okaye to ask for help and if you know someone who is struggling, all it may take is simply reaching out!

We are human, composed by Maimoa Music
Recorded with No Filters Studio, visuals produced entirely by Maimoa

STAR ACTOR: Krystal-Lee Brown

LYRICS:

V1:
Non existent and numb
Anaesthetics kicked in
I want to sleep in
Are you a victim of creation?

PRE-1
I'm fighting for the smallest silver of hope
Suffocating in the shaddows
Finding my air to breathe
To release the truth of me

CHORUS:
Look in to my eyes
I understand I'll empathise
Together we'll stand
You don't have to hide
Just take my hand
Because we, we are human

V2:
Oh broken mirror on the wall
As I lay in the pieces on the floor
A silent cry, slowly tearing me apart
Will I be able to survive?

PRE-2
I'm fighting for the smallest silver of hope
Suffocating in the shaddows
Finding my air to breathe
To release the truth of me

CHORUS:
Look in to my eyes
I understand I'll empathise
Together we'll stand
You don't have to hide
Just take my hand
Because we, we are human

BRIDGE:
Kei hea taku kahu toroa
maiaorere hei kaupare i te kino?
Kei hea taku whetū kanapu
hei arahi, arataki i ahau?

CHORUS:
Look in to my eyes
I understand I'll empathise
Together we'll stand
You don't have to hide
Just take my hand
Because we, we are human x3

I've been there, battled addiction, homelessness and depression, starved, spent birthdays and Christmases alone staring at the ceiling when I had a roof over my head, all while living overseas, all with no family support. I came out the other side though and better for it.
  • I lost my brother to suicide and I struggle so much trying to understand what he was going through before he left us. If only he asked for help! This song wasn't able to help my brother but it definitely helped me let out my grief. Thank you so so much for creating such a beautiful song.

My dad tried to take his life when I was young but luckily my mum was there just in time and lifted him up before he went through with it so who ever is reading this just remember God put you on this earth for a reason and if anyone tries to put you down for it they ant gonna get any where in life you are loved so don't forget that
  • I balled my eyes out when I first watched this...It makes me wonder what my loved ones had gone through before they took their own lives. Ive been so low but Im so blessed to have the will power within me to always pick myself back up. This Song always reminds me to be as kind as i can because you never know what somebody is going through Look after one another. Watch for the signs. Drop the Ego. Lift the heart xx

This is a good representation of mental illness, depression & anxiety. The dark space, tiredness, room messy, no caring about physical appearance. I absolutely understand this. And with love hope everyone else does too. This has powerful meanings behind this both video and lyrics.

Love the part when Pere walks in. Balled my eyes out. Love yourself.

This is something I’m sure my mom is going through right now, but I’m not there to help her. I’m in adoption, only 13. I wish to be by her side. I wish I understood what she is going through, I wish for my siblings, I, and parents to be together. My dad, I don’t really know, I love him but he really needs to get his act together and get on the right track. This has not happened only once but throughout my whole life. It’s heartbreaking, but I think that I don’t suffer more than what my parents are suffering through. While my dad and mom our on the streets, I’m in a home, I have a phone, I have money, I have so much, and I’d trade in everything just to be together as a family again. I have 5 siblings, and I’m the oldest. I have to make sure to put on the right act in order for my younger siblings to be happy and make good and right choices, I have to teach them the right ways, I don’t want them going through what my parents and I had to go through EVER in their lives.
