Rick went to go play with the cars, with the toy guy, in the back.
  • Rick was wanting to play with the track. Thats why he asked dude to stay. Was fun to watch. Great video

My dad built an amazing slot car track back in the early 70s. We had tons of fun playing with it. Adults and kids all loved it.

I still have my 1970's slot cars. The track is gone though. It's strange how we always return to a place and time, we once walked away from. All those that have disappeared since our youth, for one reason or another, death included, come back to us again. Toys, music, movies, scents, etc etc, are great memory trigger objects.
  • I used to take out the small brushes and replace them with little balls of steel wool. They would rob the power from the track and go more than twice as fast and sometimes catch on fire 🔥

My second place of employment was a converted old slot car track building... The tracks were dismantled but the interior of the building still has all the flags and colors painted on the walls.. it was pretty cool!

Slot cars were my favorite toy as a kid. I went through 3 or 4 sets because I would break all the tabs off trying to lock the track sections together.

I loved those cars and the gun handle gas pedal, we had all different car styles, those were a blast.

1976, I took a slot car motor and fitted it into a model helicopter for a science project. Put it on a wooden board and added on some shrubs and plastic army men and a with a battery and wires, flipped a switch and the blade would rotate. Looked really cool and won best project. I was 11 years old. My dad was amazed that I put that together. Great memories!
  • I`m 64, got my Aurora Thunderjet set when I was 7 years old. Guess what, I still have them. Including the motorcycle. Also an FX Dragster. Had that car box, but was too small, so I converted a 2 tray tackle box that is full. At least 30 cars. Also a Big rig.

Rick seems genuinely happy with the deal. Definately going to find the tracks to go with the set & vroom vroom himself.

We had a BLAST playing with these as a kid. I still have one. It was a Rolls Royce with wide tires in the rear, I ended up taking a 71 Camaro body and put it on the RR frame with a new primer grey paint job of course. It was a slightly heavier car and none of my friends' cars could beat it as it hugged the curves and stayed on the track.

Aurora slot cars do bring back a lot of memories! There is one thing playing with Aurora AFX slot cars of the 70s that the 60s did not sit right on the track and the parts are not interchangeable you could not use parts from the 60s slot car with a 70s slot car

These Aurora slot cars were very well detailed, l had a set myself they were fast !
  • Had so much fun playing with my slots with my brother.. God I miss them both..💕👍

I spent my grandfather's coin collection on afx cars and track in the 70s. Thanks mom for giving it away when I was in the service.
  • We had awesome stuff to play with in the 60's. When played all the time with our slot cars when we weren't busy playing with explosives...
  • @thyslop1737
Forgot I had these as a kid too. I played with these forever. I do remember going around curves the cars sucked and always spun out.
