Always interested to see how people apply the diamond polish to the polishing plate, maybe include that next time.

Learning how to use a 10" slant cabber myself. Love it. Good luck on 35K subs. Love the mic, greatly reduces mufflng.

Hi Alex, In addition to possible contamination, I've also seen where the electroplated diamond discs are usually more aggressive than the resin discs of the same grit. In other words, they are not equal. Also, I noticed you were rotating the stone on the disc. This is going to make cross-hatch scratches which are a lot harder to get out. It's best to keep it going in one direction, turning it 90° will make it harder to get the scratches out because now you have twice as many. In addition to the 220 you bought, I also purchased a 3000 disc to fill that gap between 1,200 and final polish, as well as an 80 grit electroplated diamond disc for really rough pieces or something I want to contour face polish without cutting. The diamond paste that comes with the machine is 14,000.

The audio turned out great, I think. And as for the numbers on the discs, doesn't that mean how much per square inch? As for a disc, maybe being contaminated, maybe turn your water up a little more to help ensure it rinses better? That polished up beautifully. This was a great video. Very informative.
  • Thanks for sharing! Glad you figured out what was causing those deep scratches. I'm just learning and doing lapidary on an angle grinder with diamond polishing pads and finishing with the cerium oxide So far I feel like they look beautiful. I'm curious though, because of my lack knowledge, is there a reason why you stop at, I think it was 1300? My pads go up up 6000 and I can see a big diff when I stop at 3,000??

Sound ok, some dark maybe? I thought it would shine when you had polished it? Boring when they are not shining or wet!!:body-blue-raised-arms::hand-purple-blue-peace:
