  • This show was honestly so good, and then season 2 got canceled like ?? It deserved more recognition, not to mention the soundtrack 😱

Friday Night Lights + Glee + This is Us = :)

High School Musical had the Latina lead girl, Glee had the Jewish lead girl, and now Rise has the Hawaiian lead girl! Auli’i !

Is this High school musical but with more drama and a better plot
  • this show truly changed my life. i'm still devastated they canceled it though. this was the first time i saw a trans character played by a real trans person nevermind the fact that it was on nbc. my family was able to see this about a year after i first came out as trans and honestly, though it's been hard, i think the representation in this show still had such a strong impact. representation matters. censorship is dangerous. this show talked about these things and didn't shy away from the ugly parts of being a teenager. i'm still grateful this was a show in the first place <3
  • This show is so underrated, this is honestly so good. It made me cry and laugh in every episode
  • Yeah this was definitely inspired by Glee. Nothing against that I absolutely love the whole idea of Glee and I'm loving this new take on it! Especially with Auli'i wanting to be a star. Just like Rachel Berry in Glee. And her presumable love interest being a football player. And the flamboyant gay kid. And the kid that's homeless. And the football player that's a trouble maker. It's also possibly not coincidental that they chose Auli'i's character to audition with "Mama Who Bore Me" which was originally performed by Lea Michele, the actress that plays Rachel, on Broadway. Of course this is with all the comedy taken away from it so it's definitely a different show. But ya know, the baseline is there.

This looks good, yet it is really ironic. People are saying it is a lot like a true story version of Glee. Glee actors Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff were the original cast of Wendla and Melchior in Spring Awakening.

OK so I'm actually so looking forward to this show it's about real kids who actually look their age and ya I can't wait. Its gonna be so much better that Riverdale bullshit (even though I watch it lol) also I'm getting throwback season 1 90210 vibes at 1:27
  • As someone who grew up in poverty and entered drama, there are few more beautiful opportunities to be and become YOU. I love this.
