"Atonement" broke my heart into a million little pieces. Despite Briony being indirectly responsible for so many lives being ruined, you can't help but wish, like her, that Robbie and Cecelia's story had a happier ending.

The 2005 version of P & P is my all-time favorite romance movie so you got it right. Matthew Macfadyen's achingly vulnerable portrayal of Mr. Darcy was breathtaking.
  • "The Last of the Mohicans" is one of the very best period romances of all time.
  • The lovers in The English Patient were Ralph Fienes and Kristin Scott Thomas. Juliette Binoche was the nurse who cared for the patient.

Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite Jane Austin Novels. Next are Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park, and Persuasion. I also loved Ana Karenina, little women and great expectations.

Jane Eyre is one of the most beautifully written books I have read. I will watch any movie or series based on it.
  • Pride and Prejudice had to be #1. It's my favorite period movie and book ❣️

Sense and Sensibility is my favorite. I would add - - A Room With a View - The Unbearable Lightness of Being - Wuthering Heights (1939 version) - Enchanted April

Age Of Innocence is probably Martin Scorsese’s most underrated movie
  • Persuasion is such an underrated movie. The emotions are palpable. Also agree, Atonement was a heartbreaking film.
  • Genuinely feel like 1999’s “Anna and the King” should be on here. Jodie Fosters chemistry with Chow Yun-Fat is undeniable. And the setting and accuracy to the film is stunning.
  • The best version of pride and prejudice is the 1995 version. It was the utter embodiment of Elizabeth and Darcy

I hate how "Belle" keeps flying under the radar. Not only is it an excellent film concerning racism and classism in 18th century Britain, but it's absolutely gorgeous and the chemistry between the two leads is off the charts. Plus, the male lead, Mr. Davinier, has, in my opinion, some of the most swoon-worthy lines put on film. It's a serious must see.

RIP Jean-Marc Vallée He directed THE YOUNG VICTORIA
  • Please, do a list of the romantic period mini-series. There are so many good one. Especially, Pride and Prejudice and North and South. Both are beautiful and wonderfully acted.
  • So surprised that Somewhere in Time is not on this list. Not only is it a beautiful movie but the soundtrack is so beautiful it makes you cry.
