Why Does Sonic Unleashed NEED a Remaster

With the release of Sonic X Shadow Generations, Sonic Unleashed is the one game in the series that's always been requested for a rerelease. I personally think that it's VERY important that this game gets the same treatment that Generations does. But, why? Why does Sonic Unleashed NEED a remaster?

Oh we like Unleashed now? We fuckin like Unleashed now? Can I say I told you so yet? I've been waiting 14 years to say so. Backed it up in arguments all these years.

Sonic Team mentioned if we show enough love, Unleashed might be next on their remaster list!

Unleashed is my favorite sonic game, its my favorite interpretation of Sonic and his world ever. It's such a shame Unleashed is hard to get your hands on if you don't have an Xbox or ps3, a remaster would be great

I'm probably one of few Unleashed fans that likes the Werehog stages more than the Daytime stages, at least on the HD version. Some can drag out a little bit, but I do enjoy them more. This is partially because the Daytime stages were kind of early with the boost formula and it feels that way. Like it wasn't fully developed. I also am not a big fan of the last few levels and the progression of the game. If they can fix all that with a remaster, like maybe change how you progress a little bit and also add infinite lives (as an option), that would greatly improve things.

Honestly if Sega really went all out, they need to add a Knuckles campaign to the remaster. In the Archie unleashed storyline knuckles is a big part of it and is connected to light gaia plus just imagine giving Knuckles similar combat to the werehog it could work well

I would love to see Unleashed get ported after Generations, at this point it's long overdue Also you're right about the werehog, when I first played through the HD version I had tons more fun playing as him cause I prioritized upgrading the combat, trying out a bunch of different combos made playing through those levels much more enjoyable. I do think one problem I have with the platforming in those sections is that there isn't really a shadow to indicate where you're gonna land so you just gotta pray, so if a remaster happens I hope there's like an indicator or something, like how Crash 4 does it. I also do hope they reduce the Sun and Moon medal requirements, on top of making them easier to spot cause the medal hunting is the one biggest flaw unleashed has in my eyes. In terms of extra content, if they do something like Shadow Generations, I would love to see a Knuckles or Silver campaign that plays alongside the Unleashed story, but for Sonic Unleashed itself, I'd like to see skins like they've been doing since Frontiers

thought this channel was way bigger the editing in this is really good
  • Hope they will surprise us with this remastered/remake 😮

The Werehog is incredible & I'm soo happy you've acknowledged the capabilites of it. Style & substance interwined to create the most satisfying combat in any Sonic game, including Frontiers, which had foregone most substance for 95% style.

Yeah, I actually like the Werehog parts. Just another gameplay to master while loving the Sonic series

We don't need a Sonic Unleashed remake/remaster... it's already amazing on Xbox Series S/X in 4k60fps. What we really need is a remake/remaster of Sonic 06 and YES, I like that game AND the kiss too. I don't give a fuck about the world's opinion 🤦‍♀💀
  • They could make an option to turn off the battle theme or at least readjust it for the big battles instead of EVERY GOD DAMN ENEMY
  • @Captain1455
I played the water down Unleshed years ago and now I'm play the actul version. The Werehog stages are long yeah but now i have the power to Piledriver my enemies.

Honestly i think it’s highly likely, they want to do more remasters based on what the fans want and unleashed is by far the one we want most. Just give it a couple years.

Your explanation for the Werehog existing, albeit correct, is missing a key detail, one that has applied to every game with the boost gameplay. The Werehog was created as a way to extend the length of the game (as well as the medals and hub worlds, though to a lesser degree). As proven by games like Colors, Forces and Generations, who both have gameplay additions to extend the length as well, still last about 3 to 5 hours versus Unleashed which is about 10 to 20. Funnily enough, Frontiers did this too but with the boost gameplay instead, as the main focus is now the open zone design. Regardless, I really like Sonic Unleashed. It's my favorite Sonic game, and has what I consider to be the best alternative playstyle in the entire series: The Werehog. He's really well designed, even if it clashes and contrasts the daytime stages (which is the point), and really fun to play.
  • Sonic unleasheds framrate on the 360 looks like a slide show sometimes, gotta do something with the game

If I were Sonic Team and was able to remaster this game, I'd do the following: - 60 FPS boost as is on current gen of consoles (constant as well, maybe support for higher framerates) - No Denuvo (I wish) - M-Speed/D-Speed angles taken from Generations (tighter, but not impossible to reach) - Patch Interceptor Glitch (or at least, avoid triggering it just by resetting in one of those zones) - Patch Break Glitch (it just crashes the game for going too fast in original hardware) - Keep the details and effects from the X360 version - Put the final bossfight from Unwiished instead of the one from X360/PS3 - Divide Eggmanland as is on Unwiished, while allowing the player to play the entire thing as one level if they want a challenge or extra unlockable - Add the final Act and reward for 100% Unwiished (because no reward on X360 is a bit lame in comparison) - Add all of the DLC stages either for free (adding onto the port's price) or let them be proper unlockables inside the game - Add the Sun/Moon requirements from Unwiished into the normal game (the Sun/Moon gates, but you have to collect them as in the X360 version). - Swap homing attack from Boost button to Jump button, as is on Colors, Gens, 4 I&II and Forces - Low loading times, as in Series X. Probably not perfect and I'd angry a lotta people for patching/nerfing speedrun tricks, but I think it'd be a fair trade-off.
  • If they remastered it, that would mean bringing back the Hot Dog missions... And as someone who just recently finally got all achievements for this game. Im gonna give a MASSIVE... HELL NO... Those blasted missions just destroyed my want to ever touch this game again...
