The Dallas Cowboys have had an underwhelming off-season, with only four signings in free agency so far. However, they may not be finished yet, as they will gain $9.5 million in cap space on June 2nd following the release of Michael Gallup in mid-March.

Despite Gallup's release leaving $4.35 million in dead money for 2024 and $8.7 million for 2025, his lack of production made the decision to cut him more beneficial than keeping him. This move provides the Cowboys with some cap flexibility heading into the 2024 season.

The team still has weaknesses at wide receiver and defensive tackle, and the additional cap space could lead them to explore more free agency options. They must also consider whether to use the money to extend their own players.

Potential free agents the Cowboys should consider include defensive tackles Calais Campbell and Linval Joseph, wide receivers Michael Thomas and Hunter Renfrow, or even re-signing Stephon Gilmore.

The Cowboys face a decision between saving the money to extend key players like Micah Parsons and Osa Odighizuwa, or using it to strengthen their roster. Regardless of their choice, the incoming cap space is a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster off-season for the Cowboys.

  • The important part of having cap space is to be willing to spend the money and invest in quality players. Don't be fooled or hornswaggled by the crap that cap boy tries to feed us every year. Use the money to bring in talent, and not shop at Goodwill Industries and the NFL Retirement Home. People continue to say Dak should take a discount so the team can have money to sign other players, yet when they had Dak for the cheapest that they will ever have him they never spent the money saved on anyone of note. What makes anyone think that now they will spend money if Dak takes a discount šŸ¤”. Until cap boy shows he's serious about trying to build a championship team, Dak should get as much money as he's able to get. If it's not here, then someone else will definitely want him on their team.

9.5 Million in cap space now I can get a McGriddle with extra salt.

Preach Nupe!!!!!!! I didnā€™t even really think about it like thisā€¦ I mean damn this is the same owner that forced Emmittā€™s hand after a superbowl year!!!!
  • And another thing. I think law that Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones is trying to set this team up to tank so they can get better draft picks for next year.
  • @dalynbrown
JC Jackson sound like a good pickup upgrade from Stephon Gilmore
  • Well law. I don't think so because with the draft picks that we have and also call Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones is being so Penny Pinchers .I do not think that they are not going to use that money to try to bring anybody in from free agency to help this football team because look what they did by bringing back Ezekiel Elliott that write this show you they ain't really trying to do nothing for this football team. I see that Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones is setting up Dak Prescott to fail .

Number one priority: Stop the run. We need Interior Defensive Linemen. Defensive ends, linebackers and our secondary look good! We want the Doomsday Defense back!
  • @banks4115
They just going to let it rollover to next yr. This team doesn't spend money on free agents.
  • @CurtieDaGREAT
This organization is about to try to split that 9.5million 4 to 5 different ways šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£
  • I would like to see them resign Gilmore for starters. Put together a deal for two years; never mind this one year crap. If you can prove yourself after all is said and done, you bring up financial incentive at that point of the conversation. We need to pay our guys that have stepped up to the plate and put their money where their mouth is. If you canā€™t do that, then sit them on the bench and put in your second stringers that can prove them to be worthwhile.
  • @robmiljus
First extend the contracts for #88 and/or #11
  • @1xXxJetLifexXx7
I think weā€™re good at db two all pros on the corners plus Carson looks like he want a starting spot šŸ‘€ jlew better ball or else
  • @andrewbrann6231
Maybe I'm on my own on this but how is running back not the number one issue?
