I love it when the YouTube algorithm comes out of nowhere and just hands you a gift. This is straight up 🔥🔥🔥

Forget your well paid TV celebrities, You Tube is where you find true talent........the unsung heroes. What a brilliant version, and a superb mandolin solo.

This is the entire reason Youtube exists! Little gems like this!

I was skeptical. ... Don't come at this classic unless you intend to deliver. This song was there through tough times for me. After watching I just want to say: "Thank you for this performance!" - You definitely delivered!
  • I tell you, these young bluegrass players are the keepers of the flame. Sierra, Mollie Tuttle, Billy Strings, et al. They are the ones who are keeping the best music from the last 50 years alive. The absolutely stunning talent and range of this generation of musicians that are technically "Bluegrass " is so impressive to me. If you are not aware of them you should do your self a favor and look into what these young artists are doing. Truly inspiring.

Absolute powerhouse of a cover. That Mandolin solo is perfection. I think tears for fears would be so proud and I hope they are. It’s amazing when an artist can cover a song and make it their own. This is like jimmy hendrix covering all along the watchtower. Incredible

I ran across this by accident. I’ve never heard of Sierra Hull and I’m from Nashville. I’m an instant fan. I’m proud she’s a fellow Tennesseean. Every time I play this video I weep. It’s as if God reached down from Heaven and scooped up everything which is good in this world and formed this perfect, beautiful human being that is Sierra.
  • That mandolin solo far exceeded my expectations! Everything built to that moment so wonderfully. Magnificent performance. :)

I usually get chills when I hear the Gary Jules version. For some reason, the world threw this version in my suggested videos. I've never heard of Sierra Hull. I'm now a fan. I didn't know Mad World needed a mandolin solo. Now THAT was chills.
  • Mere seconds after hearing her voice…. I broke into tears. The good kind. THIS…. is why We “fall in love with music The driving force of our livings The only international language Divine glory, the expression The knees bow, the tongue confesses….” Andrew Wood RIP

A sentence I had never expected to say, before seeing this video: "you've got to hear this amazing mandolin solo"
  • @womenhealers
I listened to this song in the early '80's when it first came out... Sierra probably wasn't born yet! It was a song of the times then, and her version is every bit as relevant and fantastic now. What a great interpretation of the song..
  • @tozag
As phenomenal as her mandolin playing is , and that solo was phenomenal, props to the violin player for some creative and perfectly placed atmosphere
  • First thing .. this is THE best cover I’ve heard of mad world…second …this girl can play wow… it takes a lot to impress me.. but wow.. wow.. wow..

When people create like this it is as close to the divine as we come
  • @saxoncrow2500
She has an amazingly controlled and expressive voice. I could listen all day to it. And of course that mando solo. Awesome.

Sierra's playing is so pristine and perfect. I love the quiet confidence she exudes. Her virtuosity is far beyond most mortals but she's never overly showy. It's 100% tasteful and melodic. You can see how much the band loves playing with her too.
  • @coxhoe789
this is the reason why i love youtube

Wow. This song is a canvas for this group to paint a masterpiece.
