Building a medieval roundhouse from the iron age in 12 days. This bushcraft shelter build took us 12 days to make with simple hand tools. It has a thatched roof and wattle and clay walls. This bushcraft camp was inspired by the ancient celts that occupied britain thousands of years ago. They lived in round dwellings generally made from wattle and daub and a roof made from thatched water reed, long straw, sod or turf and heather. They had fire pits inside their houses where they would cook the food and the smoke would permeate through the roof of the thatch material, keeping the shelter warm and dry. We used simple hand tools for this build: axe, saw, knife, hand auger and drawknife to build this tiny house in the woods. This was a collaboration project with my friend Dustin from Bushcraft Tools. See a link to his channel below. Thank you for watching!

This is highlights of the Celtic Roundhouse build so far! Once lockdown in the U.K. lifts I’ll head back here to film an epic overnighter with Dustin. Working on a skills video for you guys which is a little different to the norm but I think you will enjoy it! Cheers for watching - Mike

I like to believe not a single word was said between you guys the whole build

It only took me getting up at 3AM to finally catch one of your videos as they get posted! Greeting from Japan!
  • My daughter introduced me to this video & I'm not disappointed. Learning how to live off the land like our ancestors did isn't an easy task, but it's extremely rewarding! Of course you guys make it look like a piece of cake! Thank you for the well done, informative videos looking forward to more.

Basically just by using the surrounding trees these guys create magic. When the snow goes away here in the northern part of Sweden I'm going to have a go at it.

This is the calmest I've ever seen Amber. And the way she sits in the chair! Hahaha, what a goofball! I would die for her.

A real treat watching you and your dogs work together. Can't believe you did in just 12 days!

So glad you started to include the food from the episodes, honestly some of my favorite parts
  • Mike, I always think whatever shelter you're currently working on is my favorite. Then you go and build something else, lol! Wishing you and your family a sweet Valentine's Day. Hope your wife and daughter are doing well. 💟

One of the most interesting videos I have seen. It was like magic, a solid shelter appears from nothing. Thanks for the shortest 40 minutes of film watching.

JAXX !!!! What a joy to see you again !!! As I saw the other dog, I thought: Where is Jaxx? I have finally seen you. What a joy! Hey what's up??? How are you?? Happy? What a tent daddy is building huh !! Here we will go to have cocktails with background music, that will be when the house is ready, the chickens in the corral, the cow resting and someone velando for them. It's Okay, isn't it? How about? I don't know how to get there, Mike has to make me a map that I can go from my house! They say that women do not understand maps, but before ensuring that, you have to make sure that the maps are well done ... !!! But nothing can compare to your nose, right, Jaxx ?? neither with the mine !!! Well, tell dady I don't want any likes anymore. Does not matter. All the likes, for you. Thank you. I ♥️ 🐕.
  • Hedge clippers and pruning shears in the Iron Age...who knew. The stew looked good
  • Those Silky saws and draw knives are so handy. I'm glad that out iron age ancestors had them.
  • Have watched this build before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Seeing it in a condensed form was also enjoyable.
  • WOW, y'all really have gotyen better at the thatching. Good job guys!!!
  • This is so awesome and very inspiring. In a day and age when the Mainstream Media seems to report insanity at a constant rate, videos like this that show just how far you can get with simple workmanship and hard work become highly sought after. I love this channel so much.

When 1st comment means so much to people, that they leave ‘hi’ or ‘great video’, without even having watched the video 😂 priorities on point obviously.
