I took a flight on the world's most cramped Airbus A330 - seating over 430 passengers - on a brutal 10 hour flight from Manila to Dubai!

People who fly with this airline didnt choose comfort, they choose affordability. So, yes, this is an airline of choice for most filipinos who work abroad and wanted to go home, and still be able to spend less so they can provide it to their families.
  • This flight makes sense because in the Gulf region most of the service workers are Filipino. This flight makes it possible for them to visit home cheaply.

Its a budget airline...dont expect anything

As a retired pilot, consider yourself lucky that you were flying with the Philippine people who I consider some of the nicest in the world. You could have been in there with a bunch of crabby Americans.

If Ryanair did do long haul then this is how they will do it
  • $ 177 this is cheap for a 10 hour flight. You can't expect luxury there. I find this very fair for the many guest workers who have to travel to Dubai. If this service is not intended for Europeans. Should they remain silent and fly to Emirates or Qatar.
  • Flights such as these are primarily for Filipino OFWs (Overseas Foreign Workers). OFWs have very limited funds and Filipinos are typically smaller in body build. As such they fit in the seats just fine (as does my wife) and are more than willing to be closer together. In point of fact, as an expat living in the Philippines, it seems to me that in the eyes of many Filipinos, being close together is just fine. (IMHO, Filipinos don't require the 'personal space' others might, even when it comes to sleeping arrangements.) I also find the seats on most airlines economy offerings way too hard on my rear and at times put the pillow under my rear. So that isn't just Cebu Pacific... it's just that YOU don't fly economy for 10 hours normally. The food you were served is also not meant for the typical first-worlder palate. What you ate was Filipino comfort food and the fact that there was twice as much rice as the meat portion in perfectly normal. If you ask a Filipino what they ate for their last meal, they will tell you, 'Rice!' Yes, rice is the meal and everything else is the topping. This is a budget Filipino flight, by Filipinos, for Filipinos. Cebu Pacific's slogan used to be..."Every Juan can Fly!" We fly Cebu Pacific regularly between islands here in the Philippines. Their short hop service is not without its problems, but the prices are good, the staff are good and the schedules, number of flights per day to a destination, are in most cases better than their main competitor Philippine Airlines.

Most entertaining review I’ve seen! Lost it at the boarding song they had. Wouldn’t take this flight myself but I do like the concept. I have Filipino colleagues who worked in the Middle East before immigrating here to Canada. They would tell me stories on how they made just enough money to support family back home and that it’s common to seek jobs there. So I think this service is catered for them.
  • saying this as a Filipino: typical Asian budget for a typical Asian-sized passengers as target market which maxes out at 170 cm average
  • @nycflyertravel
At first I didn’t think you had much to complain about sitting in an exit row, but then they closed the door! 😂 I could feel your pain watching this video. You can’t go wrong with that price though!

Expecting good food, luxury and comfort in a budget Airline??? Its fair to say you get what you paid for.
  • Dude it’s a budget airline what do you expect? Business class seats?
  • @vincentlaupp
I'm sorry, I laughed so hard when I saw that door close on your legs. That looks terrible.
  • @cerverg
I've been on this flight it's not really that bad and I'm 6'1".
  • @SuperJulie14
It’s a budget airline on a really long flight. What do we expect? 😂
  • @pangolin83
Us Filipinos aren't exactly known for having large statures, and I think 5J reflects that - it's been a hilarious review and thank you for torturing with Cebu Pacific!

Last year i booked a Dubai to Manila flight and I was also seated on the window seat, exit row much further back. It was so cramped so I had no choice but to rest my legs on what looks like the hinge assembly of the door. The prices were so intriguing so I had to book it immediately lmfao but never again. The crew were quite accommodating so it made the flight a bit more bearable. A few days later, I flew to Singapore with their fairly new A321-200 and I got the best seat in the house(12A). 3 days later I flew back to Manila on their A330 and that four hour flight sitting near the aisle despite the usual packed aircraft that it is, was indeed, I believe what their A330 config and pretty much what the A330 was made for. The flight was swift and smooth and not long enough to make you feel physically and mentally abused unlike my outbound from dubai. On my return flight to Dubai, I paid for better seats near the aft of the aircraft, window again where it starts the 2-3-2 across and by golly it made such a difference. It is not healthy to go on ultra high density cebpac A333 flights above 4 hours sitting by the window but then again I'm a sucker for cheap tickets lol who isnt and might do it again if I really need an immediate departure but to the people reading this, if you're skinny, easily dozes off through any situation and don't mind cheesy pre-departure music then this is the flight for you! Jokes aside, their crew is outstanding!
  • @AshrakAhmed
Cebu Pacific going to have 460 seat version of A330-900neo from next year! Hope you will do a run on that too, so we can compare the quality and pleasantness of the new plane against old one!

"If you can afford a better airline, make use of it." seems to be the message here.
