  • Got it. "SHUTDOWN" refers to a plant shutdown for emergency or maintenance, requiring critical plant start time...that leads to lots of OT .

Im an IBEW Wiremen and have been paid weeks of 6-10s doing safely training only to be laid off right after. The best jobs ive had.

The last shutdown I went to was for Framatome out at a nuclear plant in Arizona. $40/hr, double time after 60hrs, and $150 per diem. Travel in and out was $2500. The money is definitely out there.
  • Came to show so love to your other channel brother. Nice gym set up!
  • @uncommoncents1
Got my #welder and did my FIRST #WELD JUST NOW (and recorded it)!!! Thank you Chris!! Something as a real man I know I've needed to learn. I used 3/32 6013 to repair a trailer. The ONLY instruction I had is from your videos. I learn by diving head first. The welds are uglier than elephant man but hey trailer fixed. Function over form. #vocation #silver #ninjanation
  • Worked shutdowns in refineries all over the US. Great work made a shipload money. Most pay double time after 8 hours. Can make up to 100,000 in 6 months.
  • @djklu6550
I'm on shutdown right now with the pipefitters. We're getting $60 per hour for 8 hours and an extra 2 hours per day at $120 per hour. Great money, lots of experience.
  • I Like doing shutdown work but hit like someone has hit a light switch and it has slowed down so like you said I've had to find something else to do right now
  • @adamw.6488
Love shut downs. On one now. Pipe rig welder in Canada, 24 12’s a shift, quick $30,000 a job. Half the time I’m welding pipe, half the time I’m snoozing in the truck waiting on something. Ha
  • @EricAssaf
Managed to get in contact with someone and get a spot in a “class”, for shutdown welders I assume, with a power plant company with plants at multiple locations. At the end of said classes I will take an exam and go from there. Hopefully I pass most importantly and if I do pass hopefully there is ample work.
  • I feel you. I usually earn 2000$ per week at shutdowns. You ain't never lied lmao.
  • @dandenrode
Going to start doing shutdown and turnaround work in northern Alberta this October. Getting on with the pipefitters starting a new apprenticeship
  • @mk27wrx
I do the shuts in Australia , as a fitter welder , they are always after workers but they do pay great 💰 far from wot you will get in town rates ...
