I got the Q Revo and returned it now using the S8: The raising mop isn't really that much a difference, because the spinning mop seems thicker and especially when its wet The dock on the Q Revo is much better, it charge at the back so the robot don't need to back in to wash and then turn around to charge and the cable management at the back is much better Tank design is also better on the Q Revo, the cover open full length and stay open, unlike the S8 only open half and still need to hold it to keep it open I always clean up my floor before sending the robot out, so the obstacle avoidance isn't much an issue for me, but the Q Revo does seems react a little bit slower to stuff The major reason for me to switch to S8 is the mop, the spinning mop seems leave very noticeable mark on my tile and it is actually narrower; the Q Revo spin on the plastic to clean the mop, it should last a lot longer than the others, but I found out the dirty does trap at that plastic tray a lot and very hard to clean The material on the S8 dock feels higher quality, although it has a smaller tank, but S8 seems use less water when mopping, so refilling frequency seems same to me For those who don't leave stuff on the floor, the Q Revo is really the best deal, it really does perform the same on mopping and vacuuming, but if you leave a lot of stuff on the floor than S8 is the way I moved from old Roomba 980 + m6, so not matter what I'm happy, it takes less than hour to mop and vacuum my house now compare to 4+ hrs šŸ„² However, I do miss my m6 mop, cause I feel the m6 still perform better on mopping, even the j7+ combo seems better than the S8; but iRobot's mapping and navigation is so disappointed

SEE UPDATE AT END: Just got a Q Revo and will be returning it. Was very excited about it however it has constant problems with the auto emptying feature clogging. It also does not pick up things that you would think it would pick up and in the hallway where I have a runner down the hallway with hardwood underneath, it tends to deposit dust bars . Was also very excited about the rotating round mops thinking that would be most effective compared to the vibrating mops and I can't really say that they do a fantastic job. The unit does get high points for the mop cleaning and drying feature that it has. Also noticed that when there's Hardwoods underneath rugs, the unit will get half on the carpet half off the carpet. It turns on the mops and because of the angle of the unit the mopping basically is useless on the hardwood as sufficient contact isn't made w the hardwood floor. And because it's using water for mopping, the carpet can get slightly damp as the unit thinks it's on hardwood. You would think the algorithm would allow it to go back and position itself so it is squarely on the hardwood so that the mopping would be effective with it maneuvering on hardwood completely rather than being half on hardwood, half on rug... of course there are times there's not enough space between wall and rug to allow it to do that but in the places where there is, that trajectory would be preferable. It appears you get a lot for the money and you can't beat the price but I have just been disappointed. Having reviewed some of the other brands it is my inclination to get a higher-end model in another brand and forgo the mopping feature and just have the vacuuming and auto emptying option. While the mopping feature is fantastic for tile not sure I trust nice hardwood floors to the robotic mopping if it were to use too much water on Hardwoods . The app does allow for you to adjust the water usage in the mopping phase but you almost need to be able to do that based on floor type. However you can rig it by programming a separate schedule for your tile floor rooms and then you can set the water usage on mopping to high for those runs. Guess I should also give props to the app because it does have quite a bit of functionality. UPDATE: MY OPINION IS COMPLETELY REVERSED. Come to find out when I did the full clean it was just too much dirt I guess in my house for it to handle it what I ended up doing was programming a schedule and do a couple of rooms at the time two or three rooms at the time or do the full house but do them as task two rooms under one task two rooms under a different task two rooms under another task and if you do that the Revo will go back and empty after each task. NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH IT CLOGGING. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PRODUCT

We have the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. Had it for 3-4 months. Flawless so far.
  • @DanielAcostaAZ
One week into ownership, the Q Revo is truly amazing. Are there more expensive models that might be a little better? Probably, but the Q Revo can hold it's own at a fraction of the price. We bought direct from Roborock for 680-10% military discount, total cost $612. Much to our surprise it successfully avoided a folded blanket we forgot to pick up, so while it's obstacle avoidance might not match models costing twice the price, it's fine if you pick up cords and such. On the plus side, it does not touch, bump, or markup walls or furniture. We even have Christmas decorations out that it successfully avoids. None of our previous Roombas or Deebots could do that. Q Revo for the win for us.

Finally a new vacum video šŸ˜‚. Iā€™m obsessed with these ā¤

Love all your content and reviews! Something that would be nice is rating the company's customer service. We bought a Roborock S7 when it came out. A few months later it started having issues (Fully believe it was a lemon). I had to have it "fixed" multiple times by them. But it would be sent back and still be broken. Long story short- It is now out of warranty and unusable. Roborock has some of the best robot vacuum out there. But they have the worst customer service I've ever delt with (I'm not the only one). I feel like if someone spends $1000+ on a product the least a company could do is have good customer support.
  • @AlexKarasev
Please add floor-to-ceiling windows and mirrors to the test suite - these vacuums have issues with those, thinking they're a giant extension of the room, and keep trying to bump into them like a fly. Adding a no-go zone or a virtual wall helps side-step the issue, but the map is still messed up.

I have the S7 MaxV and I love it. My main complaint with Roborock is the fact that it can't empty the bin during cleaning. I have heard it's somehow a patent issue between Roomba and Roborock, but I don't understand how. My mop also isn't wetting the entire pad anymore, but it isn't the end of the world. Great video as always.
  • @jkuebbing12358
Please remember to test them against pet hair removal of tangled hair is a huge part of my robot vacuum experience.
  • @Bushwacked487
Hey Chris, I think you might have a hole in your testing. Some other channels are observing a dramatic difference in obstacle avoidance performance when on carpet vs when on hard floors. RGB camera systems seem to keep most of their performance, where the directed light systems of the s8, etc. just absolutely fall apart. Iā€™ve also experienced this with the s8- on carpet itā€™s a nightmare and gobbles up objects much more than even my s5 did. My s7 maxv is just night and day better in these conditions. Thinking it was a bad unit I replaced it, but both s8 units behaved the same. Any chance of looking into this?
  • @Projerra
exactly the comparison I needed.. Thank you.
  • @Sneaadler
An entire channel for reviewing vacuums, I love the internet. Thanks for your videos!!!!!!
  • @levi799
I have a dog and usually I walk around checking everywhere thst I don't have cables or w/e lying on the floor. This time I had checked but waited a bit too long to start the vaccum. My dog usually never poops on the floor but this time she did. The vaccum came to the living room where I was sitting and it smelled like poop. It had smeared poop luckily only in a small area. Cleaning the poop off the floor wasn't an issue, cleaning the robot was - as the poop got inside the wheels and the rotor thing and so on. So this time I don't want to rely on me just walking around (especially since sometimes I do start it when I'm not home) so I really want as good obstacle avoidance as I can get.
  • @abrookerhs
Hey thanks for getting this comparison posted!!! Target has the S7 Max Ultra minus $300 for everyone. And then thereā€™s a ā€œtargetedā€ target circle promo of 5-20% more off. Mine luckily was 20% more off and with red card an additional 5% more offā€¦it came to $759. A steal to me. Love Roborock. My S5max will be moved to the basement.
  • @roguepetunia
Amazon reviews say these don't sense when bin is full. It empties dustbin only after cleaning so some folks make a complex set of schedules with each room as its own schedule so the bin will empty after completing each schedule (i.e. after each room), otherwise the robot bin fills up too fast. Your thoughts?
  • @wesir427
What cleaning solution (if any) do you use in your robot? The only cleaner roborock has containes tea tree oil and I'd like to avoid using something that can make my pets sick if someone puts too much in. Their Q/A on the Amazon page is pretty useless, they just tell you to use theirs or water and refuse to suggest an alternative.
  • @mickp10
Can't wait for you to compare the Dreame L20 and Ecovacs X2 Omni. Thanks for the reviews
  • @shellderp
Random note here, I have a 5 year old roborock in white and it's yellowing a lot. Would recommend going black for anyone buying

Q Revo Wins less moving parts and a Base that's easier to clean as compared to the others. I have watched other videos that had dogs and cleaning the brush and drain is more complicated that the Q Revo
