  • Thank you SO much for demonstrating that we don't have to follow the actual colors on a reference!! It's your art and it can be anything you like. I also appreciate that you used white, which most people don't. White ABSOLUTELY has it's place. I also love your color interpretation! it's the colors you like as opposed to the colors of the actual reference! Regardless of what folks think, there are no rules in art. You can do whatever you like in whatever way you like in whatever color you like. I've take a class from someone trained in Spain and it's super tedious. Even the underpainting. I couldn't finish the class because it was too restrictive. And I got tired of being "corrected" in what I was doing. There is no "wrong" in art. This was the second art class I've taken. The first was in middle school and when I was told I was doing it "wrong", I didn't take another class until nearly 30 years later when I took the oil class I spoke of above. Again, told I wasn't doing it "right", and I'll never take another class. Art isn't right or wrong.
  • Oh dang. Totally called out today! 😅 I realized after the fact that I should have put a shadow layer first on this tablecloth I was painting... but I didn't. I chalked it up to "Well, I know what went wrong, I will do better next time!"

    Beautiful 1st attempt!🎨🖌️ Wonderful 2nd leaf 🎨 painting!
  • May i say thank you. I've been watching many different tutorial channels for the past few months. Most said oh you need the perfect paper and certain paints and brushes... I'm a supply buyer hobbyist, you know what i mean, so I had all the perfect supplies needed but still no movement. I had desire but all the perfect supplies and feeling i had to create a mona lisa became intimidating. I started watching your channel and i played and learned for hours today. Brush practice, paint practice, stroke practice and best of all the ego boost i got from actually using the supplies and seeing what i could create, no mona lisa but hey not a bad landscape. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
  • This always amazes me with watercolour how you can do something so similar and it comes out completely differently😅
  • @lynnec5258
I am so encouraged! Never thought you'd have a ad say!
  • @ChantelleArts
I love that you always use such bright colours, I do the same 🥰
  • @marcemiss
I like the first version of this beautiful leave❤
  • Thanks for the validation. I may do doovers two or three times. And sometimes the first one is the best. Ugh!! But I learned something each time. I never feel like I failed or wasted my times. You make your strokes and colors look so easy and you are one of my favorite youtube hosts. I hope one day I can create something as beautiful as some of the art you share with us.

Starting over is hard for me too. I am working on it. I have an identical twin sister named Julie and I tell myself I am simply twinning!
  • @Illustrat_E
I love this! Angel wing begonias are my favorite houseplant! I had one that thrived for over a year, and I’d been trying (not very successfully) to use it as a painting subject. Unfortunately I repotted it (didn’t realize they really don’t like that) and it died. 😭 I guess I need a do-over too: both in getting a new plant AND in trying to paint it. 🙂  Your painting of the leaf is the kind of result I dream of being able to get; it’s absolutely gorgeous!
  • @rebkaro4437
I actually love both Kristy. But you know what you had in your minds eye from the outset. X
  • @ellencha5975
Good idea for a video. Liked seeing the mistakes and corrections.
  • @Jas-zzz
You are a good teacher Kristy!😻
