Whats considered rich in Thailand? How do the wealthy live? Well let's ask local Thais what they think, and see if we truly believe that all foreigners are loaded - and exactly what that means! How much do we think you walk around with in your pockets, and where do we think you got it from? How much would you have to make each month in order to make a Thai girl feel like she's living a 5-star life? It might be that whats considered rich in Thailand is considered middle-class, or even lower, where you come from!

I've recently gone to Thailand and my wife is from there too. For you all to know $1 USD = 37 Baht. So for USD conversion, $75,000 baht divided by 37 is $2027 USD a month and $40,000 baht equals $1081 USD a month. I can attest that the USD goes a long way, and 40,000 baht a month is a really good salary in Bangkok. If you make 40k USD a year in the USA you could live like a king in Thailand. A typical meal here in the US is around $50 to $100, in Thailand that same meal is about $4-6 USD for comparison.

To get a retirement visa for a foreigner to stay in Thailand, you need to have 65,000 baht a month income or 800,000 baht in the bank. 65,000 baht is about $1,870 US dollars. 22,900 US dollars is about 800,000 baht.

Just subscribed. I was adopted from Thailand and have lived in the US. Returning back for the first time soon
  • Ok, I lived in BKK for some time then I realized that I could live in the North Chiang Rai for a fraction of the cost. I went from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom house and it saved me enough money that I can Fly to BKK and back every weekend and still have a few Baht for a few meals. It's only a HR and 10 minute flight and sometimes from Suk 22 to the airport was a longer drive then the flight. Here you need 40k to do as you please in BKK then you need 100k a month and going further down to the Islands it's more than that. I enjoy the simple life and traveling and living in CR I can do more on a lot less. Live where you feel comfortable and Happiness is the Key.
