Your mailbox could be a little cabin. When you have mail, a campfire ignites in the chimney to let you know you have mail by the smoke coming out.

Something to consider. At the edges of forests, they tend to have lots of shrubs and smaller trees, on account of the greater amount of sunlight. By making some shrubs on the edge of your forest, it might help visually close off the interior and help to augment that feeling of seclusion.

I like how Bdubs is just quietly painting an immersive landscape with the antics of the hermitcraft server and characters as a backdrop.

That forest is really something else. The changes in lighting, the glimpses of sky through the canopy, you can almost feel the changes in temperature as you enter and leave. I'm blown away.

he mentions etho 49 seconds in, put that in your obsession chart.

In an era of MC Youtube where everyone is trying to one-up each other with the most flashy and large-scale, inspirationless builds, BDubs stands on his own as someone who understands the value of subtlety and the importance of the small details which bring so much more life to the world. And of course, the results speak for themselves.

4 Extremely Talented Builders talking, critiquing and discussing ideas was felt so wow to hear, almost as if im in a room with extremely talented people and im just listening to them talk. that segment was my personal favorite!

No squinting neccessary. That waterfall IS a waterfall. This forest and waterfall may be one of the most subtly beautiful things I've ever seen in Minecraft!

36:30 Etho makes a really great point. There are no dead trees. When he mentions that, you guys were imagining broken over and fallen trees. Like you were trying to imagine how to do a tree at an angle, but you don't have to at all. The most realistic thing you could do is to include a tall and grey "dead" tree or two with no leaves. Trees can stay upright in that form for a very long time in a forrest and they become sustained like that due to wildlife. If you want to do a fallen variation. Create the non-fallen trunk upright with a point of failure at the top, then lie the "rest of it" near it in a way that makes sense. I love the project that your doing. It's ineffably beautiful. Every block choice and every "object" decision, has made sense in a way were you can imagine the HOW it exists and how it could have come to be there. It's like you expressing an expression of life itself. This is why I really liked Etho's point about there being no dead trees and it being too "perfect" because life would be meaningless without that subtle, yet respectful nod/tip of the hat toward death. The fallen trees you currently have with the moss in the new forrest don't follow this theme that you have been working with where EVERY single block and every single thing tells a story of WHAT it is and HOW it got there. TL;dr Basically... you have fallen trees with moss covering them, but there are no broken trees that those "fallen" ones belong to.
  • Something that might be nice would be to hide a skulk sensor triggered custom music disc that plays ambient forest sounds when you walk through the forest. Kind of like what Gem did with seagulls last season

I was waiting for Bdubs to notice the statue and the way he just FROZE, stared and then bee-lined for it without saying anything just had me cackling. 😂

The way Bdubs explains his techniques and builds is the same as an artist explaining their fine art. Bdubs isn’t a minecrafter, he’s an artist, I’ve said it before and will say it a thousand more times. I’m loving this immersion he’s crafting.
  • @tatharamandil
It's so funny watching so many different Hermits' videos as they navigate around the server and then at random times the Burj Scarifa just looms into the render distance in the background XD
  • @fWhip
The pure dedication to building a forest!! This looks amazing! Well done bdubs, totally feel your pain on all the blocks required. Really love the vibe you pulled off here.
  • @MikeSchmidt969
I love the moment with the rabbits. You know what always calms wild animals down? Yelling "Don't be scared!" at them over and over. LOL
  • Waterfall looks unreal, perfect location, perfect size and perfect shape to showcase it lapping over “rocks” that a waterfall would bounce over. So well done bdubs
  • Climb is upset that you’ve been flying, so he wanted to show off that he could do it too

BUILD IDEA for B-dubs: Sound effects in the forest When Gem made her season 9 base she added birds sounds to her base with music discs. This would be such a good thing to add to the forest and it would add so much life. Just the subtle sound of water at the water fall, or wind and birds in the trees would make the atmosphere even more immersive.
  • @0hubi
man this forest is so good, ive rewatched this video 3 times, and i gotta say man. the way bdubs is approaching building on a whole different level is amazing. Like he is just painting with colours and composing a beautiful dreamscape every time. Truly inspiring

I’m honestly baffled by bdubs’ skill. He manages to turn every episode into a documentary, and it’s always so calming and relaxing to watch. For a block game, I’d say that’s a pretty cool superpower to have. Keep up the fantastic work 🩵
