I feel my childhood memories have been completely demolished along with this TRUELY iconic building. So sad. Really!

An iconic building, known, loved, and respected the World over. Sadly though, this is what happens when showbiz & entertainment bosses are taken out of the loop & replaced by bean-counter accountants, whose ONLY remit is to reduce costs. BUT the world of entertainment is unlike any other "business," and does NOT follow the usual rules of profit and loss. Accountants should NEVER be allowed to take the reins, and have full control of enterprises such as this - OR you end up with the sad mess that is now the BBC's HQ at Salford Quays - a joke in itself ! I'm Manchester born and bred, BUT London is where the major broadcasters SHOULD be - after all, it IS our capital city, and the place where we show off the best of what we can do. It was an act of pure vandalism to make Manchester the UK home of the BBC ! Wood Lane is where it was, and where it should still be now - end of !

So sad, this iconic building has had it's heart ripped out of it.

This is difficult to watch to be honest. I think of Blue Peter, Tomorrow's World, any number of sitcoms, Roy Castle!

Holy f**k. They may as well pull the rest down. What a disgrace. After all the building done since the 80's then to just rip it all out. But they have left the fucking East Tower standing. I suppose it will make good office space!. Well once the place made TV history, day in day out.

Studios TC1 and TC3 will do some fair business once they reopen in autumn 2017. Those studios are large and suit a wide range of shows. TC2 is the problem, it is too small and will be used as storage for many months. It has not even been fully kitted out and will only be kitted out when productions will be using it, ie Using temporary equipment.

is that main circle building in the middle still there?
  • BBC TV Centre 1960-2013. The next phase has begun. This is about the half way point in the remodelling of the building. It will become a hotel and media conference centre with flats and new studios, which will be hired in future by the amongst others, the BBC.
