Hey pilots! Tricker here and I want to welcome you to my channel on combat aviation. I’m a real world pilot in the Airbus 319/320/321 series and I enjoy DCS World, Falcon BMS, Falcon 4.0, IL-2 Sturmovik, X-plane 11, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

If you want to fly WWII aircraft over Normandy and the English Channel, then DCS World WWII is for you and they have plenty of aircraft to choose from such as the BF-109, FW-190, Spitfire, P-47 Thunderbolt, and P-51 Mustang. If you enjoy modern aerial combat then you want to focus more on DCS World products such as the F-16, A-10C Warthog, AH-64D Apache, F-15, F-14, JF-17, SU-27, Mirage, Mig-29, F-18 Hornet, Mi-8, Mi-24 Hind, Uh-1 Huey, Ka-50, F-5, Mig-21, AV-8b Harrier, and the F-4 Phantom. Some of the mods that are out there for DCS World are the F-22 Raptor, SU-57, A-4 Skyhawk, Rafale, and Gripen.

I enjoy other games such as Total War, Battlefield, War Thunder, Escape from Tarkov, as well as Squad.

cant wait for the ''how to start the f-4 in dcs world'' short
  • Cartridge start, huh? Somebody likes flirting with danger :D Great video man, and thanks for the shoutout, much appreciated!
  • @stoops417
I love that you show that the different levels of detail and realism are up to the player. Linking to Reflected for the more detail oriented startup and providing a more practical approach here is a class move.
  • Love the basic start up that hardly changes over the decades...absolute legendary experience in the F-4
  • @aandc2005
I see you have Robin Olds in the cockpit.. I'm pround to say I met and talked with Robin Olds at EAA in 95👍🇺🇸 great job in making this!!!
  • @j4s0n39
I was hoping to practice this tonight. Maybe tomorrow...

These voices that were added to the F-4 are amazing! Awesome work from Heatblur and the voice actors!

Thanks for this Tricker! I watched Reflected’s but- god love him….he goes through every pre start check and test there is (including testing the pitot tube heat). I’m a 52 year old cop on my second wife with 5 kids between us. During the 2-3 times a week when I get 1.5 hours to myself to play, I can’t spend 45 minutes of it checking things I know work. But hot starts are for communists
  • That cartrage start sounds like something out of Thunderbirds XD I forsee everyone who bothers with cold starts on public servers to do cartrage every time. Cept me, I love the air start
  • @Cubrooski
It's been a minute since I've ran the F-4 and I can't remember for sure but I want to say we waited until we 35 or 40% until we went over the horn holding the ignition button. Minor details in the grand scheme of things. Heatblur did a beautiful job on the F4 and I can't wait until I can get it one day

I was a crew chief on f4 C D and E we did cart starts all the time lots of smoke but other than that a pretty normal start. I did run up’s on f4’s all the time looking back on it now I can’t believe they would allow a 20 something kid to start up and run F4’s but they did, scared the crap out of me the first time I ran one up my knees were shaking holding the brakes on. Had a captain in the back seat the first time when I had to qualify for the run license. You can’t imagine the power of the phantom until you actually run one up, pretty nuts the C and D were fun because of the model of the j79 they had they made a very distinctive noise when you got above 80 percent throttle, the phantom howl it was called people could tell if we were running above the approved throttle range in the chocks by the noise the jet made.
  • @Fahreun
The attention to the details is insane
  • @tenToesUp747
Cartridge starting the F-4e is a treat. Love the noise and the smoke cloud!!!
  • @biggus3348
This vid helped me realise that I'm on the part of the spectrum located between 'must use the ground air supply rather than cartridge start because realism' and 'CBF doing the BIT tests because I want to bomb shit really soon'. GG, Tricker. Helping us all in unexpected ways.
  • @julianmorrisco
Excellent! For purposes of immersion, I tell myself that my Crew Chief, or maybe WSO, ran through the boring parts of checklists etc while I was taking an unexpected dump. So I have no problems using expedited startup sequences. 😄
  • I don’t have a split throttle. How do you start the left engine bring the throttle up the 50 percent and back down to idle without the right throttle moving with the left throttle??? I’m stumped. I don’t know what key bindings that would prevent this. Edit: I figured it out. Had to add a modifier to the left throttle under axis.
  • @SportDCS
I wonder if you could repurpose those start cartridges for something else after you use them? Like a paperweight… or a fleshlight?
