Looks and sounds great. FYI : After Leo sold fender, a few years later he was the CEO of the newly created Music Man, and then later went on to make G&L He spent his life in all the various instrument makers and parts makers as well. I like most of their line up especially with the G&L pickups.
  • @JB_Eckl
So glad to see all the G&L love in the comments! I always knew about them but I really fell in love a few years back, and now I'm rocking about eight different G&L and CLF Research guitars which I use constantly on sessions etc. They are AMAZING.
  • In the early 80s, I was doing repair work in a Salt Lake City guitar store. The owner said he had Leo Fender and George Fuller on the line. Their bass guitars were blowing pre-amps. He asked me to have a look. it took me about 5 minutes to see the problem. Mr. Fender did not know enough knowledge about basic electronics to know that the "Linear Cookbook" was only a basic reference manual. He made a pre-amp that would cease life if plugged into certain poorly designed amps, mostly Fender amps with the polarity switch. The next day, a fax detailing my fix was sent world-wide. I asked to speak to Leo Fender but was transferred to Fullerton, who hung upon me. So much for the legend of Leo Fender,

G&L is probably one of the most underrated guitar brands. I bought an ASAT Special last year and I love the Jumbo MFD pickups and the Saddle Lock bridge (both constructions of Leo Fender that are only available in G&L instruments). Lots of resonance and sustain and a unique sound and the guitar feels, plays and looks great.

There's only one Fender "His name is Leo Fender" He didn't pass away building a bad guitar. He got better and better. George and Leo are legends in this industry. G&L is the real Fender. Los Angeles

G&L makes some of the best guitars and basses on the planet, many of which could reasonably be considered the "ultimate" versions of their Fender counterparts. They have guitars with virtually any kinds of traditional pickup configurations one could want, but they also have some pickups that are exclusive to their brand and produce sounds not found in literally any other guitars. Leo Fender innovated until the very end, and his legacy (no pun intended) is alive and well at G&L. Def check them out if you haven't already!
  • This is why I love local shops. They will make offers to move gear. One shop has 4 used G&Ls right now and my favorite is the semi-hollow Tele.

I absolutely love G&L! I own three Fullerton guitars and they sound and play awesome!
  • G&L make great guitars! In my opinion they are one of the best kept secrets in guitar brands! Awesome video, I’m new to the channel, really dig your enthusiasm!
  • I’m a G&L fan, hope that someday they will be more widely used and will save their quality, they are amazing and they are really a Legacy of Leo
  • @dabanjo
I bought a G&L tribute tele years ago someone had traded in at the shop. I didn't think much of it until I plugged it in and played it. Best sounding and playing guitar I'd ever played. And this was their cheapo line? Now I'm all about their guitars, never played a bad one in nearly 2 decades now. Even got a p bass from them that I love.
  • @Fugettaboutit
G&L's have always been great guitars from the start, can remember them from way back when I started in the 80's. They literally were an 'evolution' of Fenders. But they were still very clearly based on Fenders, and to this day I think they're still underrated. Had they been more of their own design, or something more distinctly different like a PRS (which still obviously borrows from Fender/Gibson), maybe they would have been a more prevalent name like those. But Leo was doing what he knew.
  • @richfahey
My first "real" guitar, which was also the first guitar that I bought brand new, was a 1993 G&L Legacy and I still have it. Great guitar.
  • A great last guitar story. I'm almost 70. And I m still looking for the last one. I've got a good collection too. Keep playing Mike. The joy is in the search.
  • When I was searching for a tele, I tried all kind of teles, Fenders, Custom Fenders, signature Fenders, ESP, as well as other brands. I came across a G&L ASAT Classic and that has been my #1 guitar since the early 90’s. I still have it and it has been an amazing guitar!
  • Right when you pulled it off the wall and before you said it yourself I thought, “Now that is a great color!” Congratulations on your purchase. G&L’s are great. I always thought about the Rampage first because I’m a huge Alice In Chains fan and Jerry Cantrell. Great tones. Enjoy your new guitar!

When I got into Umphrey's McGee about 12 years ago I noticed their lead guitarist Jake Cinninger had an S shaped guitar and thus my discovery into G&L began. The headstocks definitely made me think of the guitar as less than but I quickly learned that they are amazing.
  • @mikenagoda
I have been a G&L guy for years - I play a T style guitar, and I love their ASAT. I think the quality matches the Fender Custom Shop for way less of the price - great to see them getting some love!
  • @TheReBorn
G&L F100 was my first electric guitar back in the late 80’s. It was a custom order for my dad that I got when he passed away. I had just been playing about a year and a half. Amazing guitar. I would take another one in a second.
