Can you beat Pokémon Blue using only the GRASS TYPE?

Published 2024-01-30
Welcome to a new playlist of videos where I try to beat Pokemon Blue using a team built up of just one type.

Each type choice is decided by a randomiser wheel, then I choose one of the three spins to do the run with.

Rules
1. The wheel decides the choices
2. I can only use pokemon of that type for the run, but I am allowed HM Slaves
3. I can not heal in battle using items
4. I can utilise the badge boost glitch
5. I can use TM's & HM's
6. No double team

I always forget the version exclusives these days. With the newer gens and the trade systems having version exclusives isn't such an issue when team building! Love the video, Youtube will definitely not like Victreebel's nickname :')

lmao, poor bellsprout... Nice!!! (also god damn, tanking Charizard's fire blast at the end... and getting its HP low before passing out... heroic) Next mono-run looking... painful lol

Grass types are actually really good for in-game runs in RBY. Some of them get Wrap which is silly in these games, many get moves like Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, Toxic, and you get Bulbasaur with Leech Seed, so you can either stun lock them with Wrap and sleep/paralysis, or chip them away at them with Toxic and Leech Seed, or you have the almost-always-crit Razor Leaf that Victreebel and Venusaur have access to. Honestly Gen 1 mechanics really favor Grass-types to cheese a lot in the in-game stuff.
  • Thought you were going to do Star Wars themed names as soon as you named Bulbasaur 'Bulbafett'... Could have had Exe'cute order 66'... Tang Tang (Taun Taun)... and so on 😭
  • Really surprised how slow a grass pokemon team could complete the game in opposition to the Rock type! As for next months type.... 😬good luck haha. Love the video today. Needed this, this evening to zone out from the world.
