I watched Batman Beyond for the first time more than 20 years after it came out. Some might say I watched it in the future!

one of the biggest reasons this show was successful was because it was executed properly.

I really like the idea that Bruce being forced to pick up a gun to defend himself against some thugs is what made him realize that it was time to retire.

The thing that really got me to like Batman Beyond was the Spider-Man like formula they went with. Terry living a double life. His life as Batman often directly effects his life as Terry. It's one of the few ways I feel like DC paid respect and homage to their competitors at Marvel
  • One aspect I like about this series is how the theme about Legacy and "Creating your own identity" also works to create a contrast between Terry and his enemies. While Terry becomes a better person thanks to Bruce and the people in his life, his enemies not only are defeated and become worse because of their inability to change their ways (ex: Derek Powers becomes blight, Shriek becomes permanently deaf, the Royal Flush slowly dissolves and loses their money) but some of them, like Blight and Inque, are betrayed by their sons and daughters, who end up embracing their parents exemple and become worse than them.

In my opinion its crazy that Batman Beyond has been around for almost 25 years and WB hasn't put out a Batman Beyond video game or a live action Batman Beyond movie, i really have hopes that James Gunn does something with this character in his upcoming DCU because its a about time Batman Beyond becomes more mainstream.

What I love about Batman Beyond is how the villains finally meet their end, some of them in really really messed up ways.
  • I wish Terry's relationship with Melanie would have ended up well. Glad that, in the comics, they eventually reconciled and even she was admitted into the Bat-Family. A great writing job by the legendary Dan Jurgens 👍

Batman Beyond is one of the best versions of Batman. I love the mentor/ mentoree relationship between Bruce and Terry. Also Batman Beyond appeared in Static Shock

Ok but can we talk about that INTRO. Holy, could there be a more perfect intro for a show? The music, the art, the imagery. Perfection

Batman Beyond is Batman if Batman was Spider-Man. Great show.

It’s so funny when one of Terry’s friends is being tortured in some Asylum and as he’s talking with her through the vent he says, “stay schway." lmao it gets me every time.

Funny thing: the crew jokingly sent in the Egg Baby episode to the Daytime Emmy awards as an applicant and won The joke was that that episode was just so incredibly different in tone from what the show was generally going for
  • Your thoughts on Batman Beyond were equal to mine, Sal, except I became invested in the whole Batman Beyond concept during my early 20s, through a short by Darwyn Cooke to celebrate Batman's 75th anniversary. I only watched tge animated film, and I loved it more than the cartoon. After watching the series, I fell in love with Terry, who, in my opinion, is actually more relatable and better than Bruce, since Terry wasn't moved by hatred and revenge like Bruce but redemption and self-forgiveness, and had people he cared about, like Dana and his brother. Plus, it showcased perfectly Bruce's commitment to his crusade made him a very, very sad man, and is slowly forced to realise Terry is free to have his own life, something Bruce's partners, especially Dick, despised him for.

This show had it all, start to finish: heart wrenching, funny, goosebumps, imaginative, and a worthy protégés for the mantle of Batman. Bruce is my Batman, but Terry McGinnis is my Batman too-full stop. Still wish we could get a Batman Beyond game like the Spiderman games, but maybe in the next 20 years 🤷‍♂

I'm almost 30 and I remember watching this when it was on tv. batman beyond, old man Wayne and joker, will forever stay a permanent memory in my head.
  • 15:38 Really love the overly dramatic poses Melanie strikes while telling Terry her issues, especially the part where she clings to the street light pole like a stripper 🤣🤣

Thank you for giving us the best Batman of the 1990's Kevin.

Freaking loved Return of the Joker. Trying to describe it to someone came out as: He got the joker to rage quit, stop with the games and puns and was just trying to f*cking kill the guy. Why? Because he laughed at the clown.... On a side note, I never found it hard to guess what happened to Alfred. Two words: Old. Age. Sad, but most likely the case.

The Epilogue might be the single greatest thing in the entire DCAU. What an absolute ride and such a PERFECT ending for the character.
