  • The sound of the metal resonated on the ground. His hand no longer had the strength to hold his sword, as he was keeping all the strength he had left to stand, in the middle of this field of ruin and desolation. He had ... succeeded? I did it He looked around him, stunned, all his enemies defeated, all his allies gone. No one to cheer victory with. There was only one man left, alone, weak, tired, in what used to be a flowery and peaceful meadow before. He had been fighting for so long, alone for so long, he didn’t even know what had happened to get to this point. A powerful chest pain pulled him out of his reflections. He looked at his chest, bloody, and the hole in his left flank that reminded him that he was still alive, at least for now. He looked up at the sky, smiling bitterly. "So this is the end... this is how it ends." The wind flew through his hair. "Will I be remembered?" - It was the thought that crossed his mind. A thought that terrified him, terrified of having died in vain, of not having been up to the task. Terrified of having died alone. "Who will remember me ...?" "I will remember!" replied a joyful voice behind him. He turned in haste, not believing what he had just heard, and saw her. Her long golden hair, her blue eyes like the sky that was waking up, her white dress that by its purity illuminated the battlefield. She looks like an angel "I’ll remember..." she said more calmly, smiling tenderly. "You..." he said as he approached her with his eyes wide open. His strength failed him and he began to fall forward unable to hold his weight. The girl rushed towards him and caught him tenderly, tightening his embrace around him. "I’m here... I’m here" The young man pressed her face against her shoulder, sobbing slightly. "You are here..." he said dumbfounded. "Always. I’ve always been there." "I did my best, you know." "I know what..." "I fought to the end..." "I know," she said, smiling, tears in her eyes. "I really tried but... I failed... everyone..." She moved him slightly away from her to look him straight in the eyes, her two hands on her cheeks. "You did not fail my love. You succeeded. You fought, you never gave up and you succeeded." "Liar!" he cried, startling the girl. "I didn’t protect anyone. My friends, my family, you... I couldn’t protect you... I couldn’t protect our dreams, I-" She threw herself in his arms. "It’s not your fault! It was never your fault! You did your best, I’m so proud of you... It must have been so hard" She wiped her tears and tried her little finger. "You know, we promised ourselves to life, to death, right... so we weren’t going to break the promise..." He stretched out his little finger to interlace it with hers. "You are a hero. You will be remembered as a hero, a man who fought for hope, as the man ..." she said, crying. The man I fell madly in love with..." The man smiles faintly, his forces beginning to abandon him. "Is it scary...? To die.?" "Oh you know, it’s not that bad. We get used to it," she laughs gently wiping her tears. "I’m scared, Lizzie..." "I know my love." "Will you be up there?" "Of course, I’m just waiting for you." The man leaned against a wall, collapsing from fatigue and pain. The girl stood up in front of him, glittering like a bright spectrum. Its light, which radiated at the dawn, merged with that of the sun. She vanished in a gentle breeze "I leave you the future, my friends," he thought, thinking of his brothers-in-arms. "I hope I was enough "Lizzie... wait for me... I’m coming..." His last breath warmed the air. A courageous man never dies alone, he is in the hearts of all those to whom he has given the strength to fight, the hope to win, and the rage to live and continue to fight to the end. He was not forgotten. He was remembered as the man who sacrificed himself for what he believed in, leaving this world with a soothing smile on his lips.

"Who will remember me?" The question lingered in the young warrior's mind. He felt his life force only growing weaker as he looked at the pool of blood now forming around him. Suddenly a face appeared. It was that of a young girl smiling, then a family... HIS family. Then that of his friends. He saw his loved ones and smiled; a tear falls by his side. "I know who will remember me". Said the warrior. "Huh?" the evil warlock looked back in surprise. He laughed "WHO CARES WHO WILL REMEMBER YOU? YOU'RE GONNA DIE ANYWAYS!" The young warrior's mask fell as he stood up; the face of a young boy took its place. "The people who cared for me, protected me, guided and taught me... even loved me. THEY are the ones who will remember me." The young warrior readied his weapon. With a loud battle cry, the boy rushed forward. dodging blow after blow and landing his sword in the heart of the warlock. "HOW?!" The warlock screamed. In a fury of white light, The warlock vaporized as he screamed. As the dust settles, The warrior laid next to a stone. Watching the setting sun. He smiled, a tear rolling down his cheek. His body soon fell limp.

Who will remember me? The war has taken many lives through the years Names gone and families torn The names of soldiers who gave their lives for the greater good Now lost in the battlefield This feeling... Of never being remembered again Will I ever be remembered?
