Is the raw dog food diet legit? Raw feeding is so popular these days and there is so much misinformation surrounding this topic. In this video I discuss that and a few other things with Dr. Lindsey Bullen. Dr. Bullen is a veterinary nutritionist who is, quite frankly, an expert in everything related to the nutritional needs of your pet. I wanted to have a long form conversation with her, so that I could help provide some answers to common questions pet owners have in regards to the nutritional needs of their animals. We cover everything from raw food, grain free food, the best brands to feed your dog or cat, and some questions from my tiktok. I learned a lot talking to her today, and I hope you do too. She's great. Any questions or concerns, feel free to comment below. Thank you and have a great day!

What's really scary is employees of pet stores often try to act like nutritionists and say that "grocery store brands" are all bad and try to guilt you into buying pricey food for no reason.
  • My dog was kibble fed first 6 months of his life, Royal Canin, Science Diet, etc. you name it. He was constantly suffering through GI upsets and we were going to the vet at least 2x a month. I finally got fed up with all the antibiotics prescribed and ā€œprescriptionā€ diets and started researching on raw feeding. I finally switched him over and we have had zero GI issues for 18 months now. My second dog was weaned into a raw diet and has been raw fed his whole life and zero issues for him. People handle raw meat all the time when preparing their own meals, itā€™s no more hazardous if you practice safe handling practices and know your food sources.

Been feeding my dog a raw diet for about 8 months now and it has cleared up his arthritis and and even cleared up a skin issue. Heā€™s back to being active and happy after a few years of being depressed and not wanting to be active anymore. Seems like there are some vets who are against raw and some who are 100% for it, all I know is it changed my dogs life completely around.

Thanks for this great interview video. Iā€™m a new pup parent and all the nutrition information out there is so confusing so information from an expert vet nutritionist is exactly what Iā€™ve been looking for. Dr Bullen answered so many questions Iā€™ve had! šŸ™

Awesome video! Thank you for doing this interview!
  • I wish there was more discussion on the necessity of ample amounts moisture in dogs and cats when it comes to food. As well as addressing the high amounts of carbohydrates in kibble which can lead to diabetes, dental issues, and obesity. I understand where the vets are coming from in terms of their concerns surrounding the average person improperly handling raw food and then giving it to their pets, but I felt that there wasn't enough discussion on cooked food (minus bones), which would address the concerns surrounding salmonella.
  • Thank you for the program. I, like everyone else, is always trying to do what's best for our pups, so thank you!

This was a great watch and soothed a lot of my anxieties about feeding my pets. My cat is on Hillā€™s dry for weight loss and the internet was trying to convince me I was poisoning her or something šŸ„² tbh I only ever saw good results from Hillā€™s myself in the past. For my dog I mostly feed Farmina but I get Hillā€™s now and again for variety. Farmina is a European brand backed by veterinary science but they donā€™t have as much research on their own food (like feeding trials) like Hillā€™s does. Theyā€™re also focused on a more ā€œwhole meat low carbā€ type of idea but their nutrients profiles seem a lot more balanced and in line with what vets recommend (from what I know) than a lot of other brands in that category. Their dry food is actually more affordable than Hillā€™s too, but the wet food is really pricey.
  • Great, informative video. I feed my dog a combination of kibble and cooked homemade. This combo seems to be more digestible for him.

Yay!! I love Dr. Bullen(work with her personally) and this video is so great!
  • Great video! Thank you for the information very educational. My 5 yr old French Bulldog recently changed diets due to his allergies. His vet recommended a HA diet so far so good.

Helo Very interresting interview I have a question All the compenies that you named use 'empty' carbohydrates such as corn in the recipe. I heard it is less recommended in dog food. I would love to know your position on the issue of corn and wheat

  • I have been feeding my 2 year old malshipoo taste of the wild I found that this is high on dcm cases so I have wanted to change what are the top 5 dog brands that you would recommend? I'm so lost with so much research I have done and I'm just overwhelmed

Wow, I really loved this. I am trying to educate myself as much as humanly possible before I bring my dog home next month. Based on what Iā€™ve personally read, Iā€™m going to feed a premade raw diet that meets AFCOO guidelines. The bones will be blended and Iā€™ll feed daily dental sticks instead of whole bones. Iā€™ve been a little worried about what a vet will think about me feeding raw, and it was so nice to hear a vet just say they will always be there to inform you so you can make your own decisions.

Also ran to your tik toc immediately and followed šŸ˜
