  • I watched this video this morning , showed the part where you use the bendable masonry pieces to support cantaloupe to my husband and asked could we go get some and he grabbed his car keys, told me to get in and we went around the corner in our neighborhood where they had just wrapped up construction on the newest housing development and laying in the landscaping, (for over a month) we’re 34 pieces of it, just sitting there, discarded, abandoned and ours for the taking, timing is everything!!! Already placed them and will plant cantaloupe tomorrow, Thank you, great video!

I’ve been growing Christmas lima beans for several years. They hold up well in soup . The plants are prolific and large so I only grow 2 and they last, drying out into late fall here is SoCal.

Thank you for this! I'm growing my first garden. I'm a renter in AZ therefore growing veg and herbs in pots. This is very helpful. And thank you for posting where you get seeds ❤😊
  • Your explanations are so clear. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I had to cross a state line last year to a more rural area to find a Home Depot that had the ladder mesh pieces but it was worth it. (Still can't figure out why urban stores don't carry it.) I fastened 2 together with wire to make a taller arch and it supported my first attempt at winter squash - very successful! I always grow indeterminate heirloom tomatoes as a single stem on tall bamboo stakes and this year I'm trying a couple of determinates if I can get the seedlings large enough in time to plant in my zone 9b (short season because of heat). I'm also trying cucumbers for the first time and ALWAYS grow Asian long beans trellised all summer because they're so productive and beat the heat. Zucchini and Delicata winter squash later in the season because I think it misses the squash vine borer cycle. I cover with bug mesh at the beginning just to be safe.

I'm going to try the 3 sisters method this year. I'm also growing miss pickers cucumbers vertically, cantaloupe, beef steak tomatoes and sugar baby watermelon. Prayers for a bountiful season! 😊

3 weeks ago just planted seeds for snow peas, winter melon, and sun gold tomatoes to grow on trellis. So far, only the snow peas germinated & is growing but those are coming along nicely (50+ plants)

Thanks for a helpful video for ideas of how to grow vertically! I’m doing a container garden only this year and need to think about creative ways to grow up and not out.
