Good thing we went back to this cellar hole because there was more to be found

A caved in cellar hole out in the woods from a long ago deserted home site was hiding more relics in the dirt and rocks. It took less than a minute to dig up and start finding things once we got metal detecting. This site goes back to the Colonia days and was abandoned sometime mid 1800s so the finds are great and old. We moved some rocks out of the way around the foundation and dug up relics and then reading the landscape history moved over to the side yard. Old spoons, clothing buttons, knives, tools and more were found. Metal detecting old places like this is amazing with the New England history and always makes for great metal detecting finds.

Great job guys. I have learned to keep going back untill you get a skunk day lol. Cheers!
  • The small round metal discs with the protuberance on 2 sides could be tobacco tags. They were pressed into plugs of tobacco. If not so rusted they would have a brand name on them.
