“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
-
Murrow doing what he did to McCarthy was one of the greatest acts of integrity in human history.

News needs more people like him.

Being 70, lifelong learning, understanding, observation, experience, re-examination 24/7 365. The day of the interviewer and interviewee set in a 'one on one' without judicial or agent supervision died with this man. Nowhere, globally, since has there been such a man. We are deep into the wasteland of empty and shallow heads speaking noises controlled by off-screen Oligarchs and corporatocracy. The future was yesterday and we are all in it now. What can one do to end it?. Nothing, the mould is set and settled, yet ironically nothing is ever settled across all fields of progress. Recognition of the perpetual hubris and collective innocent ignorance is one avenue but it is dusty and empty of innovation sadly. Am I pessimistic or optimistic or even a pragmatist closing in on the final days of my time here? (this time around) I really have no answer but to see it through, it being life. Love always

Ahh yes, Integrity, that's what they're talking about; Integrity. He had it in spades and you saw what it cost him. Geez, in our 24 hour news stream I wonder if it's still possible, huh? He had guts too, lots of guts! I think he had a lot of effect on others and I think you can still see the influence he had on others, even today.

Keep them coming

David Brinkley's comments are the best. Yet today the media chooses to patronize

The narrator is Charles Kuralt, not Walter Cronkite.

Not much has changed. If anything it has gotten worse.
