Small, lightweight and powerful - the new JET system for the LS4 from M&D Flugzeugbau! A well tested system which is already flying in 200+ JS1 and JS3 gliders.

  • I'm surprised they actually did this with a real glider.. I know it is common in RC gliders but a real one.. amazing
  • The suprising element of this setup is when you are a resident of the area where this video was taken: you hear a jet engine and you are looking for a jet and only see a soaring glider buzzing around :-) As M&D Flugzeugbau is around the corner this a regular event but always cool to watch.

I've always wondered why they never designed a dual mini jet system on a glider It seems like it would be a blast I really consider trading my bike addiction for flying
  • @motionsic
Better view than an F-16 and jet sound to boot, awesome experience!
  • @3-2-1-.
People are asking about the heat of the exhaust on the tail section, but I wonder what happens when that hot engine is retracted back into the tail boom? Great ideas include huge challenges. I love the idea!
  • That clip of the jet engine, sliding out of the fuselage at the first couple seconds was glorious
  • This is why I love your channel. Practicality and a little fun at the same time. The fuel flow is pretty high but as you said… use it as a sustainer and then when you get back to the field, if there’s some fuel left over, let her rip!! A little fun at the end of a long day in the saddle is what dreams are made of. To me it’s worth the money just for the fun factor!! Awesome video.

Biggest risk is uncontained fire from the jet engine, also there is no aluminium shielding on the rudder leading edge. Overall , Very cool design and excellent power weight ratio
  • @buynsell365
That is so FREAKING COOL !!!! I want one !!! That is a great setup ........ it will give you enough power to get you back home, to keep you from having a "out landing" when there is no wind.
  • this is the ultimate flying experience. the purity/thrill of a glider, coupled with the convenience of powered flight, at a tiny fraction of the cost. it kills more than a few cats with one stone. love it!
  • @BrianMosleyUK
At first I wondered how close the hot exhaust of that jet was to the tail of your glider! 🔥
  • Adding propulsion with a light weight high torque retractable turbine is genius to give possibilities of sport glider usage!!...Well done fellas!!
  • @RemoPeter
From 3:26 to 3:55 the best timeline of the video, including your excitement that was captured well! I wish I could try this too
  • @scanadaze
The first time I have seen this. I was always wandering when someone was going to do it. I love it! Thanks for sharing. Amazing!
  • @paulperryman
Is he the first ever person to fly a jet engine while simultaneously holding a camera on a selfie-stick out the window to record himself? 😂
  • The pure joy on your face when flying it that’s so awesome you got to fly this beauty!
  • @lastfirst5863
The ability to abort landings or touch and go for gliders cannot be overstated. I understand cost prohibits every glider from having an auxiliary engine, but after seeing this I don’t think I’d fly one without it.
  • @cellokid5104
This is kind of a total antithesis to glider flight and I fucking love it. Top gun. Jet. Thrust. Yess. Lezzgo.
  • @stevewilkes863
Just had about a dozen of these come over my house in Warwickshire, UK. Cool bits of kit, very quiet.
  • @alexmaclean1
I didn't know something like this existed, absolutely love it, it opens up so many more possibilities for gliding while perhaps offering some reassurance as well as making it easier to maintain flight time if the air isn't cooperating.
