Right after this movie, Deliverance came out, Dueling Banjos was being constantly played on AM radio stations. It was one of the most popular tunes of its time.
-
Duelling Banjos: To this day still one the most iconic scenes in cinematic history.
-
The whole Deliverance soundtrack album absolutely rocks. Never fails to make me squeal like a pig.
-
You just captured the reasons why it took me decades to pick up a banjo and learn to love playing it. Deliverance was one of the most chilling films ever made.
-
R.I.P. Ned Beatty. Fantastic job in “Deliverance.”
-
A movie that probably made an entire generation of stoned 70's teens decide to NOT go camping in the middle of nowhere.
-
This was the tune I played to my cousin on our first date.
-
One of the most iconic pieces of music in film history .
-
If any 50 year old movie still holds strong, Deliverence does. It packs an enormous emotional punch.
-
That clip makes deliverance look like an enjoyable family movie 🤫
-
Deliverance, my favourite movie. Strange and dramatic. Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds incredible ! Famous dueling banjo/guitar. Masterpiece ! Thanks for sharing. RIP BURT, RIP NED.
-

When I am walking through the woods, and I hear Dueling Banjos playing in the distance........ I run.
-
About the banjo player Billy Redden: He portrayed a banjo-playing "local" during the film's famous "dueling banjos" scene. Boorman felt that Redden's skinny frame, large head, and almond-shaped eyes made him the natural choice to play the part of an "inbred from the back woods." Because Redden could not play a banjo, he wore a special shirt which allowed a real banjo player to hide behind him for the scene, which was shot with carefully chosen camera angles that would conceal the player, whose arms were slipped around Redden's waist to play the tune.

I think this is one of the most scariest films I have ever watched because you weren't expecting the things that happened !!!! Brilliant !!!!
-
When I heard this first on the radio,I went out,got a banjo,got lessons,and truned out to be a good banjo player.Thank you,Deliverance!
-
The kind of movie that sets a trigger within to always expect the unexpected when out in the woods.
-
Arguably the most famous banjo-guitar duet ever.

I watched that as a young person when it first came out. I was 11 at that time. I didn't understand too much of it other than the action scenes. Flash forward another 10 years (now I'm living in the foothills of NC) and watched it again. Now I understood. This was a horrifying, fascinating and very well made movie. Definitely a classic
