Props to that KIA dealer for treating you right.
  • @ckohlermn
I bought a used 2011 Sonata from a Hyundai dealer with 144,000 miles for my daughter. About 3 months later rod bearings went. Even though it was way out out of warranty and sold as-is, they replaced the entire engine, and gave us a rental free. Took about 2.5 months as they had to wait for crate engine to get shipped over. I paid $0. Was extremely happy with how they took care of us.

I retired this year from the service department of a Kia dealership. Kia is awesome when it comes to warranty coverage. I agree that the person on the phone sounded abrasive. I’m glad it worked out well for you. Peace.✌️
  • The one dealer principal I used to work for used to say..."your first loss is sometimes your best loss" that 21k customer finance headache looks awful good now. Different situation here you should still make out though. Great channel you got here, I commend you on your honesty and transparency. Good lessons you are teaching here. Kudos to you sir.

Remember that the faulty injector just pumped gallons of gasoline into the combustion chamber which then went into the sump - this explained the high oil level so your engines internals were exposed to very low lubrication due to the oil/gasoline mix

I love the fact that you show the absolute real world of car sales from an owners point of view. I have a small dealer like yours here in NJ. Watching you is like watching my daily routine knowing that we all have to deal with the ups and downs of this business. I was fortunate enough to get a 1.5L Ecoboost engine replacement for a 2017 Escape that was in my inventory from a 1 time customer satisfactory program we weren't even aware of until we ran the Carfax and looking into what that was. We didn't have to have it registered. Just being the dealer who owned it was good for them to do the work.

I did this same thing a few years ago. The key is to call the corporate (Kia/Hyundai) customer care number. They'll register you as the new owner and schedule you in for service. Completely takes it out of the dealer's hands with the crap about being registered and whatnot. In my case, I found out that they would cover it before I played hard ball in-lane. Made about 7k on that deal.

What also helped is that the vehical is so clean and appears to be well maintained. I personally like the color.
  • @TaylorZ2
As much as I hate dealers, this exemplifies why I always take our cars back to the dealer for oil changes while under warranty. That way there's no excuses and no ambiguity if there's a problem.
  • @ddemier
Had a 2018 Kia Soul 2.0 with 85,000 hwy miles (had it since new) and it started using oil. Had the dealership replace the engine under warranty and I got rid of it. Not dealing with lack luster quality.
  • Great vid. I appreciate all the transparency, and the effort it takes to record all that, keep track of it for months, and make entertaining content.
  • @MrTurboRotary
Bro, I thank you so much for these videos and for the brutal honesty that you always bring. Because of it, I decided to follow you 👍👍👍
  • @josephnasiri
Hey Dude, this video was done beautifully, and you showed it all in one post, it’s great that you won’t leave the viewers on a limbo and wait for the next post, now I am looking forward for the next video. Great job
  • @einstrigger
It's too bad the car hasn't sold faster because of the color. It makes sense though if you drive and just observe the lack of color in cars these days. People seem to just buy black, white, or some shade of gray color. I like a blue car myself, but bravo to Kia for including a non-grayscale option.
  • It's a shame people don't like that color. It's my favorite of all the ones they offer in this model. I almost bought one over my Geyser Blue '24 Outback Wilderness. In fact, I wish the Outback came in that color. Thanks for sharing all of the good, the bad, and the ugly in your video. It's interesting to see things from others' perspectives (e.g., the view of a dealer vs. the view of a buyer).
  • @davidbenji1
That was a HUGE difference from potentially being able to sell the car retail for $30k to selling it wholesale for only $19k. To only end up making about $2k without knowing whether the engine would be under warranty was WAY too big of a gamble. Craig could have ended up losing 5 to 10k on this car. CRAZY gamble but I LOVE this video and his content!! I also COMPLETELY understand his addiction to Audi!
  • @x2niceforyoux
KIA WARRANTY only applies to original owner, if its resold then the warranty turns to 5 years 60k miles for power terrain and basic warranty . Also car must be registered to someone for any warranty work they can't warranty used car dealer cars. Warranty extension is if connecting rod bearings failed and motor seized, then they will replace. i work in a kia service center reach out if you have any questions.
  • Craig, the way you put everything out there, Good, the bad and the ugly. Awesome. Always love the content.
  • @billh1935
I didn’t have time to see if anyone else caught your comment about “ Smokers”? I think you were referring to what is/was ranked as one of the worst and most expensive movies ever made, “Waterworld” from 1995. By the way, that is one clean Kia. Thanks for making the great videos and if you ever need anyone to check on a car in the Chicago area I’d be more than happy to help you out. Take Care!
