The Qatar World Cup opened on Nov. 20th, 2022. The Chinese men's soccer team failed to enter the Game. Yet, the Chinese government and its central media outlets took the opportunity, that is a globally watched sporting event, to praise the "omnipresence of Chinese elements in the World Cup", hoping to cultivate and inspire patriotism or love for the party. But this propaganda campaign has provoked a lot of public resentment.
Speaking of corruption, a news story recently broke out. On November 12th, 2022, it was revealed that Li Tie, the former head coach of the Chinese men's soccer team, has been "missing" to this day. According to the Chinese newspaper “Football”, the department that took Li away was the discipline inspection department of the General Administration of Sports. Moreover, Li is not the only person taken away as many big names in the soccer industry are also said to have been investigated at the same time.

The anger these fans feel should be turned towards the ccp instead of TVs.
  • Over 1.5 billion people and they can't find 20 great soccer players. Yet, they don't think anything's wrong with their system. Hilarious.
  • The fact North Korea was able to produce a better soccer team is mind blowing

6:51 "Even the Pandas in China went to Qatar, but the men's soccer team couldn't go" 💀💀

The part about the retired athlete really got me. How cruel is society to promise young boys and girls fame and fortune but leave them to beg in the streets after their body is broken and used up. Not only applicable to China. It is evil, pure evil, to treat people like disposable pawns for wealth or fame, those parents or coaches who push those kids like that I hope they are reminded of the sufferings they caused in the afterlife.

They didn't pick one of the teams in Shaolin Soccer? OMG, corrupted indeed.
  • Chinese sport players are practically there as force labors. Playing because you have to is completely different then playing because you want to.

damn not only in basketball but also in soccer this is what yao ming said china cant compete in the world stage due to players being selected not by skill but influence

Puzzling that this episode on soccer didn't go into the chinese citizens disillusionment about maskless stadium crowds in Qatar. Chinese TV even blurred out the crowds trying to hide the fact that the world has adapted to Covid, but that china is still locked down.
  • As I'm Brazilian, I'm going to explain a characteristic of all the countries that won the Cup. Sport has to be something natural, not forced as they try, training is to improve skill, Players have an incredible relationship of friendship or even brotherhood, with real love for the nation. But even so, we play against each other, which is what improves skills.
  • I went to a professional soccer match in China and I swear I was at a rugby match! I’ve never seen such a blatant fouls nor lack of skill level!

It sounds to me that a coach in China probably has to choose players that the big wigs want. As things are generally done in China. The culture plays a big role as well. Not in a positive way.

As someone who has worked in Chinese schools, most kids I've seen are seriously our of shape. Childhood obesity is a growing problem in China.

Just to be fair, the world cup ruined alot of other people's realities too

as I'm Brazilian I think I can say why they don't have a team. football is something social, wanting to go out to be with friends. stay in the street playing ball with the neighbors until it gets dark. the best players came from poor neighborhoods, because the best and perhaps only entertainment is playing football on the street

"Its like the chef can do everything but cooking" Thats a very apt comparison to China inserting itself into the world cup despite not qualifying as a consolation prize.
  • The ccp are so self center they don’t realize the human element in success. The best players always have a passion for the sport. They don’t play for a better life, they play to become the best player they can be. When your mind and body are United in purpose, that is when progression and success are realized.
