Thanks, Ben and Meg @thehollarhomestead for hosting this class! It was wonderful learning more about where our food comes from and building a deep respect and appreciation for the food that fuels us and for those who raise and grow our food. Meg is a wonderful cook and an amazing host and Bed is a fantastic teacher! Meg's Pork Digital Cookbook - www.hollarhomestead.com/shop/p/the-pork-cookbook-e…

Becky, I retired last June at the age of 71. All my friends talked about their plans to travel, spend time in warmer climates, etc. All I wanted to do was get serious about my 4 little raised beds and do some canning. Things i never had time for while raising two kids alone and then just working, working, and working. You have been an inspiration to me. I take your ideas and downsize to my needs. Thank you for all your many videos, ideas and encouragement. BTW: my friends think I'm crazy! I tell them this is the person I am, a homebody! Done the travel, done the career, time to concentrate on my joy! Relearning old skills, and new ones! Gotta go figure out my planting needs and where I'll be setting up the seedling station!

As a farmer I totally relate to the feelings that arise when it is time to harvest the pork. Whether you want to or not connections are made between farmer and livestock. If you’re a wise farmer you’ve given them as much as a beautiful life as possible. It is always hard to say goodbye yet thank you. ❤

Becky, I saw you on The Hollar Homestead with Ben and Meg a couple weeks ago. I am so glad you shared on your channel. It was nice to hear how this affected how you will order pork in the future and have a deeper understanding of the farm to table perspective from a grower. Great job jumping in there and getting hands on experience processing. I have hosted countless chicken butchering workshops and over the years and have become great friends with many of the folks that attended and still process with and for many of them 10 years later.
  • I was watching the Holler Homestead channel and saw you in their vlog of the class. I thought "Is that Becky?" and it was you!!! I never expected to see you there...Small world? good for you and thank you for sharing your food journey :)

Being a hunter, I clearly remember the first animal I ever took. From shooting it to processing it and putting it on my table to feed my family…it was a VERY emotional experience. It wasn’t easy to do at all. But knowing where our food comes from is paramount to future generations that they too can appreciate an animal giving it’s life to sustain ours. THANK YOU so much for including this on your channel.
  • It was fun seeing you on the Hollar's video. two of my favorite families in a class.
  • @ginnywarren7352
I saw you in Meg and Ben’s video a few days ago. It’s amazing how widespread this homestead community is. It’s like seeing old friends. I watch the Hollers and Bri from scratch-knew they were friends as well as the Rhodes. Y’all are all my faves for different reasons. Love your channel and all your content. You teach this 68 yr old great grandma new stuff everyday.

My husband and I are total opposites. My mother said it would not last a year . We just celebrated our 48th anniversary on the 9th.

This is very educational. Thank you Becky for letting us tag along. I learn so much from your videos. I’m planning on starting my very first garden this year. Y’all were close to me, I’m in S.C. Charlotte is about 2 hours away. I’m glad you and your sister got to spend time together. Sisters are the best❤

  • I followed the Hollar Family on every video as they travel cross country on the search for their forever homestead. It has been so much fun for this 82 yr. old woman to watch them grow and prosper, just as I have watched and enjoyed you and Josh create your homestead. I so love your cooking videos along with Meg's. The creativity the two of you have with food is unbelievable and so fulfilling to watch and learn and be able to applied for my family of two. Bless you for sharing this wonderful trip in enlightenment for you with all of us.

Becky, I was watching " The Holler's" pig butchering video a few weeks ago and saw that you attended.. Thanks for sharing your version of it from the students point of view. You and Meg are such great cooks in your own rights. I faithfully watch each of your videos. It's nice to watch Ben and Meg and you all growing your own food..
