These guys aren't joking when they say they look out for their neighbors. My dad's house burned down last year, and since he was such good friends with many of them, they offered to rebuild his home, free of charge, and he's not even Amish.
  • @Durzo1259
That Amish father gave some of the best advice ever: "Bitterness destroys the vessel that carries it."

My gramma was Amish. She was born in Indiana in 1888 and died in 1969. She was the kindest, holiest and sweetest person ever. I never heard her say anything bad about anybody, ever. She read her Bible everyday. I still have her big Bible in old German Amish script. It has all of her ancestors listed in front with birth and death dates. I was privileged to know her.

Could you imagine 2 strange guys that you've never met randomly show up and ask to live with you for a few days? Almost everyone in modern society would say hell no lol and go on with their day.
  • @HVG67
Here's the deal about Amish: they literally do not bother anyone. They do not try to force their ideas on others. I respect that.
  • @ExMachina70
It's funny how seeing the lives of the Amish makes YOU feel like you're the one missing out. Technology really can take you away from human contact.
  • You found an incredibly rare Amish family. Most wouldn’t be so open to strangers. They are good people, your host family. I hope you give them an experience in return, if it wouldn’t cause trouble with the church and the community. I was honestly surprised that your visit was so well received. Hopefully, the Amish communities are beginning to become more open.

Those are magnificent horses. The at the cleanliness and tidiness of the farms, and the animals well cared for made me smile. My grandparents were German farmers, it was the same.
  • @chogumchonsa
My grandpa was a farmer and helped many Amish with their farms, buy seeds and other goods. When he passed, three men worked on his casket made of walnut. And they said it was because they appreciated him. They also catered the food for the funeral—just the kindest people.

Kindness and respect are the main Amish beliefs. My motorcycle had broken down in the middle of a northern Amish settlement about 50 miles from my home. I got stuck at around 8:30pm with no cell signal and was expecting to put up camp when I see a lantern off in the distance. There was a kind grey haired Amish man wearing a black trenchcoat and glasses asking if I needed help. He took me to his farm where he said he had a neighbor who was a motorcycle mechanic that owed him a favor. I visit Hamish and his family every year for their kindness and respect and have gotten to know their small community of less than 200 people.
  • They're just some of the most hard-working people I've ever met. I love the fact that they are pretty much one of the last living bastions of biblical morality in this country. They don't disrespect their parents, they don't disrespect each other, they don't disrespect people that are not Amish, and they're just so friendly and warm.
  • @drudd0952
“Dads gotta get moms input. He’s not the only one living here.” What a mommas boy haha I feel that
  • This is actually groundbreaking documentary making. I've never even heard of someone having this much access to an authentic Amish community to represent them in this way. This should 100% have gone on the main channel.
  • @kat787
“bitterness destroys the vessel in which its carried” i will remmeber that forever
  • I’ll be honest. I’m not the biggest fan of religion, for many personal and societal reasons. But these people seem so genuine and really live as Christ. Just respectful and happy and working. I’d love to be able to have an experience like this at some point
  • I like their simple lifestyle. It's no wonder why so many people are Amish. What a wonderful way to live life.
  • I've lived in this area (Lancaster, PA) my whole life and have seen tourists be super disrespectful of Amish privacy and culture. You two took an excellent and humble approach and genuinely wanted to learn more about their culture. I learned a thing or two myself. Thanks for the wholesome content!

I've lived in Pennsylvania my whole life and am surrounded by Amish people. They are the hardest working people you'll ever meet. They work from sun up to sundown and are some of the best carpenters, roofers, and craftsman ever. And they're always pleasant.

This was literally my first 'Seek Discomfort' video. I stumbled upon it during Covid sequestering (a year ago) and have been hooked ever since, on 'Yes Theory' too. I'm so glad it wasn't just a flash in the pan. Each video goes so deep in a short time. And each makes me envious of the love and support you share and receive on your adventures. I know you are making our home planet a better place. Such an amazing group of men. You give me much hope for the future!
