In over three decades and through three hundred battles in the ring, Buakaw Banchamek asserted himself as of one of the greatest strikers in martial arts history. Formerly known as Por Pramuk, he forced K-1 to ban prolonged clinching with his dominant infighting, became the organization’s first two-time middleweight king and then peaced out to conquer the world stage. Today, we'll recount the legendary journey of the 'White Lotus'.

Dude's got more belts than a janitor has keys on the ring, in his 40s looking like 27, casually plays in a semi-pro football team for recreation and still whoop everybody ass. What ever your definition of a legend is, this man checks all the boxes and then some. Truly amazing.

Imagine being so damn good at your craft they literally change the rules to handicap you, then when you still smash their challengers the judges conspire against you the degree you lose when you were clearly the victor. This man is an incredible example of the warrior spirit, and the dedication, tenacity, humility and honor it takes to become so. Thank you for such an amazing video and excellent commentary. 🙏

Buakaw couldn’t have said it better.. people can say so much about Muay Thai, but when you get that hit from a real true Muay Thai warrior.. there is no comparison.

The Japanese judges robbed him of so much, it's fknn crazy. This dude is arguably the GOAT.

It really amazes me how these Muay Thai fighters don't even break their own legs with them kicks, there so ferocious!

Buakaw is one of the greatest MT fighters of all time. He’s like the living embodiment of an fearless ancient mythical warrior, a genuine legendary fighter of the 21st century. I feel privileged to have trained and fought in MT during his era of dominance 20 years ago. He was a real inspiration.

  • @hunginfocus
Saw him train in real life recently and his still a beast. I'm so proud to have trained in Banchamek Gym 😍
  • So, he won all of that while being robbed by Japanese judges and fighting with a hand tied his back due to regulations changes to not fully use clinch and/or elbows. What a legend!
  • He was one of the most exciting fighters to watch .. hands down for me. You knew he was gonna put on a good fight every single time he stepped into that ring. I loved that about him. He had no quit in him. Mad respect 🙏🏼.. What an honor it was to watch this man work.

Nobody remembers anymore, but I was there live when Buakaw fought Masato. It was the most controversial fight in K1 history. The ref retired after that fight because he let Masato take a beating so bad that Masato had to go to the hospital for kidney damage and he was pissing blood afterwards. Masato was so damaged from that fight that he was out of training for months. Judges were also bias and rigged the fight in favor of Masato. K1 was notorious for bias with their Japanese fighters and for their hatred of Buakaw. The Japanese have traditionally held a long standing racism for Thais. Note: Buakaws fight with Masato this time 29:00 was so brutal and damaging that Masato lost the tournament because of the damage he took from Buakaw.

The buakaw vs takayuki fight is perhaps the biggest dismantling i've ever seen in combat sports. From the moment he got swept, he brought his A game and the rest was history. Crazy beatdown!
