Here’s my theory (idk) The cuts aren’t in chronological order. So Taylor is in a dress referring to her Grammy dress chained to an empty bed frame in this asylum. Her Grammy dress is noted to be a wedding dress. The theme wedding and bride appears A LOT recently (Midnight Rain, Champagne Problem, Paper Rings, You’re losing me, So Long, London). The only way to unchain herself is to take forget-him pill. When they were electrocuting her, I guess to “fix” her, in this asylum, Post Malone saves her and unplugged the power. From there, they began to bond as she was in her Clara Bow outfit which btw is a Victorian Mourning Dress. She’s mourning for this previous relationship and meets this new guy and falls for him. But the love was ruining her, as she lost herself in him aka her wiping herself and having his tattoo on her face. The fall of this new relationship is signified by the burning papers. So the first scene is actually after this new relationship has failed her and she’s in this asylum room which turns out, when she breaks the mirror from seeing the tattoo on her face, was actually the same place she was after the failures of her first relationship. She went back to where she started, a bride never married because she’s fucked in the head.

How did he say "I have a friend who edits a lot of Taylor Swift videos" so calmly?!
  • @bhadmajesty9258
Her most beautifully articulated album lyrically and visually
  • I just realized that the “forget him” pills are what got her unlocked so… what she’s chained to and what’s holding her down/imprisoning her in the loony bin is her memories of him.

Maybe an interesting take, but as a woman who’s been cheated on, the long zooms make me think the epiphany you get when you realize what’s actually happening in the relationship. It’s like ur brain is attracted to this person, a close perspective that doesn’t see beyond your affection. Then you come to realize the big picture when the dots connect of what’s really happening. Such a nuanced experience, but it feels as if your brain zooms out of your point of focused and suddenly you’re flashed out of your perspective. Like when your friends see the real picture for who that person really is, but as a girlfriend or wife your view is too close to see it. I feel like those shots remind me how it felt to realize i was getting cheated on. My point of reference when you find out zooms out gets more distant and now you’re looking through the lens of your friends or family, the bigger picture.
  • I think you didn't catch it, but Taylor had a reunion of the "Dead Poets Society" for the first video of TTPD with Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles torturing her.

i hadn’t noticed the match cut on the typewriter! blew my mind!

You picked up on something I missed and now it makes so much more sense. When he looks at the readout, he realizes that she hasn't forgot him (The Forget Him pills) and that's why he interrupts the experiment and saves her! Great job on the video, really enjoyed your commentary and knowledge.
  • I was not remotely expecting Taylor and Post's chemistry. Such an incredible song and video.
  • The first part of this video shows the opposite of the 'LOVER' video. In Lover's video the house and all the rooms are neatly arranged and Taylor wants to live forever with her lover in that house. even the house has very colorful paint. but the room in this video is monotone in color and all the furniture is disorderly, even Taylor is handcuffed on a bare bed wearing a dress that is almost the same as a wedding dress. So Taylor just realized that all this time she had been trapped in her fantasy that one day she would build a family with her lover, but it was all just an illusion.

The pills she takes “Forget Him” have her birthday and this album release date on the prescription bottle. There’s a line in one of her best songs (IMO) “Peace” that says “But I'm a fire, and I'll keep your brittle heart warm. If your cascade ocean wave blues come.” I believe that may be the red and blue smoke/haze coming off of each other. She’s the red and he’s the blue. They broke up. She couldn’t give him the Peace he wanted from her. The paper cyclone was “The Story of Us” book that she was reading while they were laying on the paper profile of Taylor. In the end, that story was lit on fire and was finally and truly declared dead. When Taylor runs to Post, it’s the same exact way as when she ran into his arms at The Grammys. Ethan Hawk and Josh Charles, actors from “The Dead Poets Society” are her two doctors, along with Post Malone, who ends up stopping the abusive cycle. She doesn’t miss any details. Everything has a purpose to her; it’s up to us to figure out what she wants to convey. Lyrical genius vs NOT. LOL. Thank you for your reaction. It’s great to hear that they did a great job from a professional. 👏🏻🫶🏼🥰

i love how jordan breaks down each part of the music video, explaining it to us perfectly! his reactions are so funny 😂
  • You missed that the doctors were from the movie Dead Poet Society and their name labels are their characters! I flipped seeing Ethan Hawk!
  • @Summerchildtv
Im totally obsessed w this album, lyrically, musicly, the aesthetic, everything
  • @victoriawise550
you always make me appreciate how an mv is edited through your reactions! I hope Taylor sees this because she directed this so it must mean a lot more when people like you appreciate little details, cinematography, and editing ❤
  • @oriyanbarnes
She does have a lyric in this album saying he had her "just to do experiments on"
  • @rhondaharmon724
She is Clara Bow and this is her story. She was in a psych ward and given shock treatments. The Dead Poet Society actors.
