Aside from the title gaff, there was a real missed opportunity of Dr. Hofstader interviewing Howard about being married to Bernadette after there were two episodes where she called him gay.

I'm with penny here. I'm surprised Beverly even cared about Leonard getting married cuz it never seemed like they had a real mother son relationship. she viewed him more as an experiment during most of his life. it's crazy to me that Penny actually had a bonding moment with her before Leonard did. It says a lot.

This is the same mom who THANKED Penny in an earlier episode for NOT inviting her to the wedding? Either the character or the writers can't seem to make up their mind.

I don’t get why Penny tries so hard to make Beverly like her. It’s not like Leonard pressures her to, he even tells Penny that he doesn’t like Beverly.

The title is wrong in the context of this particular scene, but it's funny how, overall, it's true that Penny had a 10x better relationship with Sheldon's mother than Leonard's mom. Remember the episode when Penny took Sheldon to Disneyland? It was only season 3, and already then, in this episode, it was said that Sheldon's mom calls Penny when the issue is Sheldon. Also, I think that the fact that Penny was a down-to-earth small-town girl from Nebraska, and Mary was from Medford - a small town in Texas, helped with their connection. Although Mary & Penny had their obvious differences, when it came to lifestyle or approach to sex, they were still closer to each other than Penny and Beverly. Beverly was a cold intellectual, she was the opposite of Penny, they never had a good relationship, except for some short-lived moments like here. It's funny to think that if Penny and Sheldon were together, and married, Penny would like her mother-in-law.
