Alright lads, I have put a lot of research and time into making this video. Had to learn so much about each specific firearms before actually figuring out the details. But it all paid off (hopefully). I did manage to find some crucial hidden details and I now have newfound appreciation for Keanu Reeves and Director Chad Stahelski. They've really done a wonderful job and I hope among the 31 details that I found, at least some of them will blow your mind.

  • The camera work, choreography, music, and overall execution of this movie was on a tier of its own. This was peak cinema, a perfect conclusion to John's story.

At 9:14, I don't think those are fabric pieces, I think they are the shotgun pellets he was just shot with.

The Canadian Lad is a Man of Focus, commitment and sheer will. I once saw him watch a movie at 0.25x speed, at Fu*king 0.25x speed

So good, you killed it on this, loved the CGI bullets catch and the dude moving his leg

Keanu Reeves is a man of focus, committment, and sheer fcking will

6:56 I assumed he lowered the motion sensor because he realised that the enemies would be crouching while moving. So he moves the device at a crouching level.

11:04 I've seen somewhere that the gun he disassembled is the Pit Viper pistol he got from Bowery King. Described to have "ferocious fangs". And here we actually got to see why it was described that way.

4:00 the shell casings are not all CGI as the prop gun Keanu uses in most shots is a blank-firing pistol however it has what's called a "plugged barrel" meaning the muzzle end has been welded shut so that no concussive blast exits the barrel. This is very important because blanks actually have more gunpowder in them than live ammunition because a) blank guns need more gunpowder to function because they don't have the back pressure of a projectile leaving the barrel (blank guns also have modifications done to the locking surfaces so they have less resistance against the recoil) -- and b) to make the blank gun safe to use in close proximity to actors. The drawback of the plugged barrel is they produce no muzzle flash. Those are added easily with CGI in post. I've worked on several sets as a Film Tech and chatted up the on-set weapons masters to learn all this.

This movie came out at a time when other movies had no plot and were being released in a rush.. the conclusion to John Wick's story was really amazing and emotional Truly a masterpiece series

I think it was not pieces of fabric that fell from John's bullet proof suit but rather the pellets from the double barreled shotgun that the Roska Roma priest used on him just like flattened lead when other guns were used..
  • @Shuriver
Kane lowered his motion sensors not only because of the height difference but because most enemies would be crouching. Most of all the bow users, you can see them crouching most of the time. Also with the sensors lowered, it will be less easier to spot and has higher chance of getting tripped.

That "Fuck off" from Cane is one of the most SATISFYING lines in movie history
  • 2:10 I want to point out that while the Glock 17/Glock 34 does typically hold 17 rounds, the mags he is using have the Taran tactical +5 extension so more likely he has at least 22 rounds per mag and when he does a reload, it is a tactical reload for topping off your gun. Finally, you can actually see the old mag that he retains still has bullets in
  • 9:09 those were not fabric pieces. Those were metal balls(shots) falling off him as he stands up since was shot with a shotgun. Even more incredible of a detail
  • In 2023 there were many series, movies and animes with action scenes that I really liked but I think I still have John Wick 4 in at least the top 3 product with the best fights of the year, variety, creativity, use of scenery, choreography, photography, music , etc. In that sense this saga has never failed, my idols
  • @nrf2009
John had extended basepads on the Glock mags so he probably had 22 (or maybe 23) rounds in each mag technically, BUT he still did a "tactical" reload proactively before the mag was empty. In either case, he retained the mag because it was not empty instead of dropping it to the ground like he would on an empty mag. Also after the priest at the church shoots him, the pieces falling were probably not John's suit, but were probably the lead birdshot from the shotgun round that didn't penetrate his "bulletproof" suit.
  • For shell casing, they actually develop a pistol so it ejects shells so that in the post production, it makes it easier to add muzzle flashes for the VFX department. Chad himself told this in a podcast with Joe Rogan

Nice details you found. An opinion on why cane shoots his enemies even after they're dead is probably because there's no way for him to be sure they are. So as to prevent someone shooting him in the back, he makes sure they never get back up.
  • @marsker
8:30 my fav detail from this movie, john is dealt the dead mans hand cuz he wants to "kill his way out" and also foreshadows his death, cane is dealt four 9s and a 4, 4 being a bad number in chinese/japanese like you explained, and nobody is dealt royal flush because he wants to "buy his way out", killa having five 2s shows that hes cheating and he had the weakest form of 5 of a kind
