Here's a video for "The Hamilton Polka" that I put together using clips from the new "Hamilton" movie (which is streaming right now on Disney+)! Huge thanks to Lin-Manuel, Tommy Kail, and the rest of my Ham pals for creating the best thing ever.

  • Weird to think that this got so popular that Lin Manuel Miranda made a whole musical out of it
  • Getting a Grammy/Tony: meh Getting a Yankovic cover/parody: The highest honor one can receive
  • "You can't summarize Hamilton in 5 minutes!" Weird Al: Hold my beer and gimme the damn accordion.
  • Weird Al nailing Lafayette and Jefferson’s fast parts EVEN FASTER gets me every time
  • @mini7255
Petition for weird al to upload this again but edit his face onto everyone
  • @dumbname939
“Must be hard to recap an entire 2 and a half hour musical in 5 minutes” “Actually it’s super easy, barely an inconvenience”
  • @gottabesandi
The cartoony sound effects sprinkled throughout the whole thing have me rolling
  • @joshkes
I now want to see a Yankovic version of every musical. Rent, Chicago, Phantom, just... everything...
  • @cahadrey
So let me get this straight... A national treasure has created a national treasure by parodying a national treasure starring a national treasure about a national treasure who was the national secretary of treasury.

Only Weird Al would say "Ah yes. I will sing an entire 2.5hr musical in 5 minutes, and I shall sing ALL the parts. And I will sing it very quickly for comedic effect, in some cases rapping even faster than they were rapping in the musical itself, and not admit that this is a subtle flex. Because I am Weird Al, and that is what I do."

    I'm surprised he didn't include "I'm a general, WHEEEEEE!"

As much credit as Al deserves, and to be frank, he deserves a lot of credit, he has also kept the same band members for most of his career as well, those guys have a tremendous range of talent as well so my hats off to them as well as Al for the many years of laughs and music they have helped provide.
  • @sgtleobella
Weird Al: consistent the entire 38 years I've been alive
  • @Zak_Meents
Weird Al has stayed relevant longer than most of the artists he covered over the years. Al is a national treasure.
  • This is mind-blowing. Like not everybody is going to realise the skill required to do all of this, especially if they don't know the show/music as well. Hamilton is a notoriously tricky show vocally, and not only did he speed it up in places, but did all the parts and harmonies. This is why he has been in the industry so long, not only his great and palatable songs, but the talent and creativity behind it all. Often times parody and comedy art takes more skill than people give it credit for.

I'd love to see the original cast do a show with Weird Al as the King.
  • @ko9killer
You were just waiting on Disney to release the footage, weren’t you? Weird Al you genius

The fact that Lin has listened to this, makes me happy in knowing this masterpiece has served its purpose
